Great place Alice Springs, 1 000 000 000 flies can't be wrong (as the 80's souvenier T-shirt said).

Storms forcast for the next two days in Alice, the Todd will be flowing by tea time day two. Hope they've packed the cards

The Treager Park wicket is lower and slower than Glenelg oval, and any well timed drive on the deck is only worth two (the outfield is so thick).

The cricket they play there will be so far removed from what they experienced in Brissie and what they will get in Adelaide it's not funny.

From the cricket Australia website:

Cricket Australia has stood down ground announcer David Nixon after England spinner Monty Panesar was introduced in an Indian accent on Saturday.

"Cricket Australia deemed the conduct of the PA announcer as inappropriate and as such he will take no further part in the match," a CA spokesperson said.

Panesar, 31, has played 48 Tests.

The left-arm spinner claimed 3-41 in the Chairman's XI's first innings of 8-254 on Saturday and is pushing for a possible recall to the Test side in Adelaide next week.

Panesar was born in Luton of Indian descent.

It's understood the player had not heard the remarks and England's team management have said they had no knowledge of the matter until the announcer was replaced.

Nixon, an ABC producer, was also cautioned by CA on Friday's first day of play according to a News Limited report.

His comments included: "You can go and have another drink now, Joe" when England's Joe Root was dismissed.

Root had a late-night incident with Australia's David Warner in a bar during the Ashes series

Not one of the Australian XI has played any 1st class cricket this year. Also, the team included a 16 year old who plays seconds for NSW, Doran. Scored 17.

So in a two day game the ground announcer managed to get a reprimand on day 1, and sacked on day 2! That's quite the achievement!
