Reports say pitch was incredibly slow. Aussies did well to stick at it and get the late wickets though

The last couple of dismisals were terrible for test players. Aussies will enjoy batting on this deck.

Agree, I'm gonna wack a bit on Rogers top score for aus, this pitch should suit him perfectly.

The pitch was juicy early but is already looking a bit slow and funny. Going to be a strange old pitch thats for sure. The problem is have they muted there best assests as well?

Don't know what game you were watching the pitch was dry and slow from ball one. Smith genuine edge 1st over that didnt go close to carrying.
Very hard to score runs on but i suspect that is more to do with SA's mindset.
Only way i can see a result is if we get 200-250 in front and they choke under that pressure

Getting 450 is gonna be super tough on this pitch too. Will take forever.

Anytime you bat out day 1 with wickets in hand you've had something of a win. Aus have done well to keep the runs in check and pick up what wickets they have but the new ball is key. Johnson again seems vital here. If he can get into a groove and get stuck into the tail with a reasonably new ball SA might post 270 or so and give us a chance. Very happy we got Amla out cheap again, hopefully he starts to feel pressure to score runs. I don't recall the bloke ever struggling for runs like this.

Amla was averaging 9.5 after 6 test match innings and then he hit 149 vs New Zealand in 2004

Also went 9 innings in a row without a score over 40 in 2006

Leading into his 311 vs England he was only averaging 20 odd in the 10 innings before

Maybe SA are hoping for Australia to defeat themselves.
