What does one take out of a MAuLing ?

Todd Murphy, one of the very best debuts by a spinner for Australia- stunning
Steve Smith averaged 62 in this match, and improved on his career average, a champion
Lab made 49 +17 which was ok
Boland 0/34 [17] deserved at least a wicket and did well enough ln his first outing in India

Selectors
Blunder not picking Travis Head
Master stroke to pick Todd Murphy

Looks like 4-0
Without checking , I reckon Smith is the only batsman who has scored tons in India
Next best of the touring team might be Mitchell Starc who has made a 98 or close to that in India

I know it’s not as simple as just being more aggressive but too many blokes we sitting ducks.

If there is 4 fielders around the bat plus the keeper and bowler that means there is a hell of a lot of space around the ground.

Without having the data I don’t think the Indians would defend any where near as many balls as we do.

Apart from George Bailey who makes up the test team selectors? Is the coach a selector, the captain?

Read that Bailey and Tony Dodemaide are the national selectors "on duty" for this tour, would think that it is also McDonald & Cummins as well.

I think most of us can accept a loss. But to be completely and utterly outplayed in every department (including planning and selection) without as much as a yelp…..

A few thoughts.

I heard John Bucchahan interviewed before the game. One comment he made, was to be successful in India, you need to accept what you are given. Don’t try to swim against the tide. I get what he means, embrace the challenge. Did we do that?

A few years ago we had a training camp in Dubai to acclimatise. Why did we not do that again…. Was it so our test players could play a bit of T/20 and chill out before the AB Medal? Remember these blokes are on 6 and 7 figure wages. Where is the preparation or investment back into their games, to justify their pay packets.

Selection bloody diabolical. Yes a few injuries did not help, but the injuries were known before they left.

Game play… bowling plans to their bats. I couldn’t make one out as a viewer.

Pitch. No problem with them preparing a spinning wicket. We expect that. The partial preparation of certain areas is in the least questionable. But the BCCI rules the ICC.

My mate Davy. As a keen follower of the game for over 50 years, I’m not sure I can watch another minute of that selfish prick ( let’s undo and re do up the gloves every ball) stink it up. If he gets the nod for the 2nd test, I think I’m done.

Lets not forget the Gabba 2 day test recently [emoji38]
1. Gabba test is irrelevant to whether the Nagpur pitch is 'doctored'.

2. Given the strength of RSA's pace attack the Gabba pitch wasn't particularly to our advantage, heading in to the match. Also I hardly think the board wanted a 2-day test. Just a howler from the grounds staff.

So is the pitch doctored or not? supposed to be doctored for lefties, yet India's lefties put on 88 for the 8th wicket

you clearly dont get it, stick to the footy forums

This is what they should do for test 2

Khawaja
Head
Lab
Smith
Hanscomb
Green
Carey
Agar
Starc
Murphy
Cummins

Must have a left arm spinner, Lyon struggles anyway, Head gives a 2nd off spinner.
We all know Warner wont be dropped, has an agreement with CA to keep his mouth shut and they in turn will keep selecting him until he decides he's had enough

Warner will only tip the bucket anyway once he is done. Rip the Band-Aid off now and let’s get on with it.

I think youre spot on, no way will he keep his mouth shut. Once Fox realises the public hate him , that he struggles to put a sentence together and provides no insight on the game he'll be looking for a bit of cash within 2 years of retirement

Renshaw.
I like Daisys idea of dropping Warner for Head but we know that won't happen and surely that can't drop Lyon if there not going to drop Warner first.

How to bat in India?

Batsmanship in India, like in any other cricket-playing country, involves the following key skills and techniques:

Footwork: Good footwork is important for batsmen to get into good positions to play shots and adjust to different types of deliveries.

Shot selection: Batsmen need to be able to choose the right shot for the right delivery, based on the line, length, and pace of the ball.

Timing: Timing is crucial for batsmen to play the ball correctly and get maximum power and control into their shots.

Concentration: Batsmen need to concentrate on every delivery, be patient, and not get discouraged by a few dot balls.

Mental toughness: Batsmanship is as much about mental toughness as it is about technical skills. Batsmen need to have the mental strength to overcome difficult situations and perform under pressure.

Technique: Good technique is crucial for batsmen to play the ball correctly, especially against quality bowlers.

Practice: Finally, like any other skill, batsmanship requires regular practice and repetition to master. Batsmen should regularly practice their shots, footwork, and concentration in the nets.

In order to improve your batsmanship, it is recommended that you practice regularly, watch footage of great batsmen, and seek advice from experienced coaches.
