I reckon if we go back and time every batsman in every game there will be numerous Timed Outs

When things calm down , Angelo Matthews , will probably enjoy the novelty
Who knows , this might even make the front page of the Time magazine

Thats it Joker801 , I was asked a few times to play in an over 60s comp in Adelaide
But how can I it will take me 5 minutes to walk from the boundary to face my first ball

Over 60's you have half an hour to get onto the ground and face up.

As far as international cricket, there should be more blokes given out this way. They way some of them saunter out, just get on with it mate.

Can we retrospectively review Monty and Jimmy at Cardiff for the time they took to saunter out in the last hour on the fifth day in 2009??

Agree, surely if he has a faulty helmet common sense needs to prevail, imagine if he got hit in the head with a broken helmet because the umpires were going to give him out unless he faced a ball.

Isn't that amazing, because I thought about this with the Wellington dismissal in the WBBL the other day, now Mushfiqur Rahim stumps de Silva in the correct manner!

Watching the WBBL last night, commentators not at the ground (game was in Sydney mind you ), catch taken in the outfield but they had zero idea that it was a no ball until they went to bowl the next ball and the ump was signalling the free hit. If they are going to commentate games remotely they need to at least have one special comments person at the ground or at the very least give the commentators a fixed screen on the pitch and umpires...why is it do hard??

We'll I guess I'm the contrarian here.

Angelo has a history of taking forever to get ready.
Angelo was already outside the 2minutes before he even tried to put his helmet on and discovered it was faulty.
This was not equipment that failed during play.

Bangladesh get punished if they are behind the over rate (have to bring an extra fielder inside the circle), so were rightly perturbed with the unnecessary delay.

It's not unreasonable for the fielding side to expect the batsmen to arrive at the crease on time, ready to go.

Appealing, and allowing the umpire to make a decision is fair enough IMO.

I must admit, Matthews took it well.

Do the umpires actually have a stop watch on the players between wickets? I never thought they did

Was thinking about this, what about in England when you have to walk through the long room, down stairs out onto the ground to the middle, surely that would take close to 2 minutes itself, let alone taking guard and being ready to face a ball

Thanks for the edumacation, it seems I wasn’t the only one though.

According to that motherhood statement, Matthews was the bad party for not accepting the umpires decision, which surely should have been adjudged as dissent.

It’s usually 3 mins, but 2 mins for the World Cup. Good point though, I guess you also have to take into account any heckling you receive whilst walking through the Long Room. Perhaps allow 5 mins for non Anglo-Saxons at Lords.
