Bowlers yet again set up the win.. and yes that included Nesser.

Batting was calculated. Carey and Ingram will have to carry the bulk of the work from here as theres not much left with Travis off on international duties. Would be a good time for Weatherald to find form.

Has to be said... in following many sports I have never seen a more talented team play so awful... in all aspects the Stars were diabolical. I rated Fleming as a captain of NZ but as a coach of such talent his future appointments will be very far and few between...

I've been getting the distinct impression lately that the way T20 is played is changing - used to be go hard from start to finish, maximise the power play etc.. but lately I think the focus has been on getting through the power play with wickets in hand, trying to still score 30-50 where possible, but then looking to spend the next 10 overs going at 7 or so an over at low risk.

Score around 100-110 after 15 overs with wickets in hand then ramp it up and look to hit at 10 RPO - target total in the vicinity of 160-170.

Certainly that was the way the Strikers played it last night. Chasing 152 I guess you can. Chasing 180, no I don't think so. Sounds like many captains/teams prefer to chase so they know they can construct an innings that way.

Batting second also allows that team to assess the pitch a bit better, as some of them have been a bit slow

I think some of this is in part due to the rise of the spinners in T20 who simply don’t allow you to go at 8-10 an over from them. So there is no option but to conserve wickets when they are operating

One thing that has completely baffled me in this tournament.

Clive Rose opened the bowling for the Hurricanes against the Strikers and bamboozled us, got us off to a stinker.

The last time I seen him was against us at Adelaide Oval where he singlehandedly won the game for us, went for over 25 in one over, dropped a dolly right in front of us and heard all about it and then got ran out for a diamond.

How the hell did we make him even look like a cricketer.

Thought KPs comments last night were interesting when he was asked what the stars need next year and he instantly said another world class spinner - even though they had Zampa and maxwell which is as good as most spinning lineups in the BBL

Interestingly, only one of the top 7 bowlers in the T20 rankings is a seam bowler

Absolute low quality crap being produced by the BBL this year, mainly due to most teams having players that are way past their prime, can't believe more teams aren't promoting some young talent.

Look at the Sydney and Melbourne teams, surely there are some kids worthy of taking a punt with in their states?

I still enjoy the BBL but it is getting harder, being held together due to some close finishes recently.

Last nights game was good to watch at the ground. But I did think Pieterson probably shouldn't have been in the team.

He was extremely lazy, almost got run out twice in a row because he either walked or jogged to the crease. Next ball got bowled. Looks slow in the field too.

Almost any other player would've done a better job than him.

The Thunder line up vs the Strikers the other night was as poor as I've ever seen:

K.Patterson
J.Buttler
S.Watson
C.Ferguson
A.Nair
B.Rohrer
C.Green
R.Gibson
G.Sandhu
M.McClenaghan
F.Ahmed

They need to get rid of two teams, play each other twice and up the coin to get the better current players in the system.................or invite winners of other comps to enter.

Return it to State v State with 2 international recruits. Heck I might even show up to a game or 2 to use my under utilized SACA membership!

Hodge, Hogg & a couple of others need to piss off. Cameron Valente the Redbacks white ball vital cog yet in 2 seasons of BBL for 2 franchises yet to play a game...

I'm glad you've raised the point re the standard of the competition, Dutchy.

Self confessed T20 critic here ( No way? They all say ), but I've succumbed to the nightly entertainment ( mainly because there is nothing else on ) option of the Big Bash.

I've found it decidedly dull to watch, perhaps the aforementioned development of the game where teams build their innings has taken the dynamic aspect away, I've found myself thinking the standard of batting looks ordinary, perhaps that's the quality of the bowling or it might just be the comments above retired old "stars" filling the competition is lowering the standard.

Anyway, I've sat through nearly half a match twice now, both the Strikers home games.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!
