Didn't score down the ground/in the V in his innings.
84 run partnership broken FFS.
Can't see Starc blocking the spinners too much.

Looked out straight away but yeah I thought that delivery spun and bounced more according to ball tracking than it looked like it would of!

Hopefully the tail can get to 300.

Cummins pumps the leggie out of the ground.
8/313, lead of 101, beautiful.

Need to keep the crowd safe from Cummins.

Can't see Starc blocking the spinners too much.

After having the mockers put on him initially Carey has now taken his batting average up over 30, not bad considering it was 16.8 after his first 8 innings (and that included a 51).

He has averaged a tad under 55 in his last 5 tests

I seem to recall posting stats here when he'd played a few tests showing that he was about on par with previous long-term Australian test keepers at that stage of their respective careers.

I think you'd have to be happy with his batting recently, not just in terms of average, but he looks like he really knows his game and knows which deliveries to go after.

His keeping appears to be improving a little as well.

What to do with Trav

World beater at home, bunny away from our soil in test matches. Oddly I feel like he has done ok in away ODI’s but can transition that form in test matches.

Has he batted enough away from home to make that call yet?

8, 23, 11*, 26 and 6 - 74 @ 18.5 is ugly reading, but I'm not sure it's all that bad.

In comparison, Labuschange has 90, 44, 0, 36, 0, 13 in the same time - 183 @ 30.5, but take out the 90 and it's slim pickings.

You love to sink the boots in early mate, we're winning and he has credits in the bank.

I'm not a fan of a few of the players but I actually feel as though we have got it right atm, we have good balance and they seem to take turns in stepping up when it matters.

Agreed, I think you should wait until the end of these two tests to make that kind of assessment on Head Whufc, let's see how he goes over his next 2/3 innings first?

Huh

Howstat website has him playing 17 innings overseas at an average of 25. Only two scores over fifty.

I’m worried for him. Can’t help but feel McDonald might stupidly want to play his Victorian mate Maxwell over there.

I think his slipped behind Green as the ‘first in line’ batsmen to go if selectors decide to make a change. Just feel like his never been able to 100% nail his spot in the side.

Play has stated 25 mins early to make up for time lost yesterday.
Just read on Cricinfo that Angelo Mathews has tested positive to COVID-19 and is out of the match.
