And being Left arm Over, Starc creates rough outside of off stump for the spinners

Mitch Swepson will play alongside Nathan Lyon aswell.

Which bowler is missing out, Starc or Hazelwood. Personally I wouldn't play Starc…….a shame Boland wont get a look in as he has bowled well in the tour games so far.

1. D.Warner
2. U.Khawaja
3. M.Labuschangne
4. S.Smith
5. G.Maxwell
6. C.Green
7. A.Carey
8. P.Cummins
9. J.Hazelwood
10. N.Lyon
11.M.Swepson
Trav might be ok to go. Depends if they want to risk him

I guess Swepson is a Monty given his recent success in the Pakistan series.

Let’s pick a bloke that hasn’t played red ball cricket for 2 years hey.
You make yourself unavailable for Shield cricket and you shouldn’t be anywhere near the test squad IMO

I'm somewhat of a Maxy fan - leaving a delivery on middle stump notwithstanding - but I agree, if you make yourself unavailable for the Shield, that's it in terms of tests.

Did he make himself unavailable or was he sent all over the world to play meaningless t20i series

He announced his retirement from SS didn’t he?
Everyone else in the squad has managed to play SS

Everyone else in the squad has managed to play SS[/quote]No he hasn't retired for Shield cricket as far as I'm aware.

I just found an article written in February last year I remember reading as there was a bit of news about Maxwell (and Aaron Finch) not being selected to play Shield cricket for Victoria.
During the Big Bash Maxwell suggested he had given up on red ball cricket and would focus his efforts on playing limited overs cricket for Australia and in leagues around the world.

It was also reported Victoria’s selection panel would look past Maxwell (and Finch) when picking their Shield team but nothing was made official.

For whatever reasons he hasn’t played SS for a long time which should exclude him from even being in the test squad

No I don't think he's tired to move states and he's on Victoria's 2022/23 contract list.
