There were a couple of reviews yesterday, one that lasted for four minutes (which is utterly ridiculous, how can anything be a bad decision when the replay can't even work it out for that long?) Considering this, fair would have been 88 overs by 9.30 an 2 overs over time.
5 seamers, no balls, are just BS excuses.
Also, yesterday wasn't an average day of Test cricket in Australia, ie around 6/280-300, bugger all wickets, bugger all runs, so should the Poms have been expected to bowl their 90 overs in less than 6 hours?
There was the ridiculous situation of the Poms running out drinks 12 minutes before the tea break, and the Aussies are no better.
Time to cut out the current drinks break, and have half it every 45 minutes, and then no other drinks, gloves etc allowed except for genuine injuries.
If the first break of every test is going to be 40 minutes, perhaps the first session should be the 2 1/2 hour one. If the night sessions are going to be used as a tactic, then start half an hour earlier and go 2-9.30 like it has up until this year with the first sessions 2-4.30. The only downside I see is first morning on a Gabba pitch like last week might weigh the result of the toss too heavily towards a side choosing to bowl first.
