Some big decisions now going forward regarding the openers.
Yeah, definitely some issues there. Sheild cricket will be so important before our test summer. We simply need to find 2 new openers.

It's a simply equation for some players like Renshaw, make runs in the shield and there could be a spot for you.

Cam Green at 3?, I started to warm to it as his last few innings on that pitch were pretty good. Not sure how that will go against better teams but that was in difficult conditions.

I don't think he will face any more difficult bowling than he just did, I reckon it was a great experience for our batting group.

I'm still opening with Konstas and Khawaja in the 1st test at this stage.

However, there's four shield matches before the 1st ASHES test for the incumbents to **** up their chances of being selected and similarly the same number of chances for the likes of Renshaw, Kelleway, Weathers and McSweeny but their hands up to say "you snooze you lose"
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Starc takes 6/9 and gets his 400th or Boland's Hatty??

McSweeney definitely in the mix but with Green looking to have found his feet in some regards at 3 I reckon they stick with him for the Ashes which means McSweeney opens or he misses out sadly

Starc can have the 1st innings ball, Boland has to keep a Hat Trick ball.

Saw it in half if they're both keen to have the 2nd innings ball and to be fair they'd both have claims to it.

Historically Australia have used the #6 spot to blood batters for the #3 spot, I wouldn't have any objections for McSweeney to come in for that purpose, but yeah, our real issue is at the top. Were the selectors unfair on McSweeney given who we were up against?

Selectors seem happy with what Webster brings to the table so don’t think there is a spot at 6.
Maybe Green does a Watson and gives up bowling completely and moves to open. Hopefully his use of DRS is a tad better though :)

I wouldn't object to that after what he has just displayed, he basically opened for the series anyway, it whacks some temporary spakfilla over another crack.

When was the last time Australia was involved in a 3 (or more) match series where no batter from either side made a century?

Having a look using Stats guru and trying to narrow it down I think it's the 1888 Ashes where Australia and England played 3 matches.

And I think the 2 match series against Pakistan in England in 2010 was the last time neither an Aussie or opposition player scored a hundred.
