Spill the beans

Not really beans to spill, but doesn't take a genius to look at the landscape and see some clubs are having more difficulty than most.

Gaza, Portland, Elizabeth, Units, Blackfriars, Pooraka, West Croydon - all taken a hit over the summer.

Nothing may change, the divisions may remain as they are - but I would hazard a guess the league would have a number of contingencies ready to roll out should things go south.

Yeah did hear that pooraka are struggling to field two sides they think - wonder why the mass exodus as they were very competitive last year

Think it was sadly just an aligning of the stars. A few lads stuck around a bit longer last year in the hopes of a flag, but now they've all moved on for whatever reason.

No Hickey, No Pooraka

If only you knew, i and many others found his coaching bizzare especially last year, they had a side that should have made a grand final at the minimum.
Coached to play bruise free, out in the open football, bashed up in both finals and the players had no idea how to respond.
End of the day it was a fail.

Maybe that speaks more about the players than the coach.

Is pleasing to hear they are scared of a hard ball given some have gone to Eastern Park this year.. :D 8)

Nah mate, it was all about sticking to structure.
Stay in your space, blah blah blah while the other team go and get the footy
I can't ever remember playing under a coach for a length of time and never seeing them go off their head at some stage with a good spray either, never saw that under Hickey, he's a teacher, you're not allowed to tell people off. Will make a great assistant coach.

Just touching back a few pages about clubs spending huge amounts of money on players in lower divisions. Anyone on here remember quite a few years ago Colonel Light Gardens were in Div 7 and had the likes of Kym Kosta, Jarrod Cotton, and Brant Chambers playing for them and I reckon they were being paid huge amounts and recall Chambers kicking 10 against us by 3/4 time and didn't play the last quarter and made the comment that he just made a easy $200 ($20 a goal).

Fair whack at a guy who’s given so much to pooraka over the past 4 seasons. Let’s see how they go without Shane at the wheel

With fairness and all due respect mate Shane Hickey is a premiership coach at Pooraka. I personally know some pretty respected and highly ranked resources at Pooraka and in the past 2-3 years of some of the stuff he was doing I wish didn’t happen as my club would have another premiership to its bow with anything less. Reckon he did a fair job and even if it didn’t work out last year I personally think it’s pretty ordinary to can a premiership coach who did a fair bit for that club on a forum. Each to their own.

Was watching my own side lose a prelim final.

You should put your hand up and coach, or are you bailing on the club again and following your lad?

What a stupid comment.
Ok brainiac, you give us an assessment on why it all failed last year.

I agree he did a great job educating and teaching the club a game plan, but this failed at the end of the year, recruited magnifictly and took them to a flag in the Covid year, had some pretty good players come to the club as well, we have scottroo on here saying no Hickey no Pooraka and he's a Pooraka person apparently.
So i hope Scottroo wont be the one that bangs his chest and say i told you so if the Bulls have a shit year, i have a lot of good mates that have busted their arse for the place and i respect all of them immensely.
So weird you can't even point out where the failure was without people saying you are shit caning someone, we all learn on the journey.
I wish Shane all the best on his new adventure and welcome the new.

You seem to be bit touchy Password Please  Firstly scottroo is a passionate CLG man and often makes tongue in cheek comments. After all, this is a forum not to be taken too seriously.

Secondly I’ve seen Pooraka close up in the last 2 seasons in Div 4, and this conversation should probably be taken to that forum. After all we are taking the spotlight off the mighty demons, flag faves.

Thirdly from what I saw of Pooraka, there is no real failure there. They progressed really well in the last 2 years under Hickey and changed the age dimension a bit this year which was a plus. Week off first week of finals then lost a home final to Lockleys which most expected them to win but I said to many during the year that I believed Lockleys and CBC were the best teams in the comp. So the 2 finals losses has had a negative impact with many looking to different reasons to leave, maybe the expectation was too high after finishing on top. The problem now is rebuilding it again.
