Anyone find it contradictory that kids are back at school full time, but they've implemented a ridiculous set of restrictions for junior sports?

I find it funny how there is some 12000 (this is a number i heard JK say) people playing senior footy each week, probably add half that again for support staff (approx) and add in people spectating well over 20,000 people each weekend. These same people are currently inside Marion, TTP, Bunnings etc each weekend. Playing/volunteering/spectating football will just shift all these people back outside and probably at less risk of catching or spreading anything. There would actually be more measures in place at footy clubs to social distance and adhere to all the rules than there would be at a shopping centre which hardly seems regulated now anyway.

The issue is at the shops you aren’t in the vicinity of others for an extended period of time. By walking past someone you have a far less chance of catching Covid19 compared to socialising for an extended period. Q’s point about junior sports has some merit.

Understand what you're saying. My point is more around people are no longer "staying home" to stop the spread. At present we have zero active cases, have to believe we dont have any in the state at this point because with the level of testing, someone would test positive. Driving past TTP yesterday you would think its Christmas time with the amount of cars there. Maybe i am just sick of having to go the shops with the wife :D

Juniors should be playing now in my opinion, have been back at school for 3 weeks and the health authorities have said they dont need to adhere to social distancing at school so not letting them play or at least all train together now seems contrary to that?

I had a giggle yesterday, took the kids to a couple playgrounds for a bit (even though it was freezing cold) and they were all super busy - 3 we went to would've comfortably had 50+ there.. the signs say you can play but cant have groups larger than 10 - so you can have as many groups as you like all in a small space playing on the same equipment but heaven forbid playing kids sports.

I generally try not to tackle anyone in Bunnings.

They set rules so we can adhere to them as they think it's the right thing to do, it's up to the individuals to make their own judgement's when out in public.

I can't believe the amount of idiots see you and another person creating a distance and then they use the gap to push through and apologise for being rude, I just say loud enough "I'm sorry that I'm about to be rude but I'm going to do it anyway"

Would it make it easier on clubs and volunteers if kids started now with no training, they just rock up for a game on a weekend and use the return to community sport guidleines the government has set out.
It seems a pretty simple solution to me.
Clubs wouldnt need to be operating lights during the week.
It would literally cost them nothing to put junior games on apart from some umpires.

Sounds good in theory but there's many junior coaches out there that think they're a Alistair Clarkson in the making, there's a lot more to it apparently than Little Johnny whacking a guernsey on and trying to get a kick.

Extremely. The playground and soccer pitch I patrolled for yard duty this morning would've had 200-250 kids running around together with zero social distancing.

Junior sport is made up not-for-profit organisations that don't impact the economy in a huge way I suppose would be the answer, who cares if they take forever to start again?

Trying to get the kids to do the “right” thing at training when it’s the opposite at school can be a tough ask

We've only gone with training for U12 and up for now, for that very reason..

"South Australia – life is getting back to normal faster than hoped. From next Monday, pubs, clubs and restaurants will be able to have up to 80 customers at a time as the Premier fast-tracks his COVID-19 reopening plan."

Premier Steven Marshall also announced that those who play contact sport, previously limited to just training, would be allowed to return to games on June 25.

Given the 2 week minimum on stages, it sets up perfectly for life to resume to normal around 22nd June.. never in doubt

Does kids footy in the lower ages count as non-contact?

Back to normality for most senior players

High-fives, handshakes and huddles have all been banned - while kids will have to shower and change at home.

Aren't they national guidelines that can be adopted though by individual states?

SA is pretty advanced compared to some other states managing CV-19, I wouldn't think that all these guidelines/recommendations would be implemented here?
