Now that Wednesday/Anzac Day is over. Still need to realise that round 3 isnt over. Interesting to see how TTG will react to their loss from last week. Correct me if im wrong but isnt the weather staying the same for the weekend? Should see some good games of footy this saturday.

5.5.4 C orrect Number and Request Without Merit
Where a count reveals that the opposing Team has the
permitted number of Players on the Playing Surface, the
following shall apply:
(a) a field Umpire shall award a Free Kick to the captain
or acting captain of the opposing Team, which shall
be taken at the Centre Circle or where play was
stopped, whichever is the greater penalty against the
offending Team;
(b) a Fifty-Metre Penalty shall then be imposed from the
position where the Free Kick was awarded; and
(c) if a field Umpire is of the opinion that a request was
made under Law 5.5.1 primarily to delay play or such
request did not have sufficient merit, the field Umpire
shall report the Player who requested the count for
Time Wasting under Law 19.2.2.

did (c) aply to the flinders park player that called the count???

The umpire acted appropriately under the circumstances.

The captain was on the bench at the time of the incident - therefore the kick was awarded to another player.

The captain was not reported in this incident, as, in the umpires opinion, the "request" to conduct the count was at the coaches insistence. A little bit lucky, as normally they would be automatically reported if a count is found in the other teams favour - for time wasting.

I have seen about 5 of these and only ever seen one report
How can there be time wasting when the A Grade have "time on"?
I think the player off on the stretcher may have still had a role in their win.

"How can there be time wasting when the A Grade have "time on"?"

It's because it can be used as a disruptive tactic. Halt a teams momentum, allow a team to regroup etc.

Very much a "blue moon" situation but the laws cover it quite well.

I reckon the FP only saw 2 players on the bench

"Waste of time" v "wasting time" - it covers both
My point was it would work much better in games with no time on
Anyway, it was a big call at the time and I'm not sure I would have done it under the same circumstances.

What about this one:

27.1 Where a stretcher is required the following procedure shall apply:-
(a) upon being advised or noticing that a player requires a stretcher, the field umpire(s)
shall stop play at the earliest opportunity and unless medical staff consider it unsafe to
do so, the player shall be removed from the playing field on the stretcher by the
shortest and most direct route

In the third quarter, the Portland trainers took their player across the playing field to the change rooms holding up play for the whole time.
Flinders Park had the momentum at the time

You are kidding right. The kid 17yrs old mind you did his knee. I ran out to help as if you were watching you would have realised that he was down and the play was no more than 5 metres away. Of course the play was stopped then the stretcher was called for. The trainiers did try to get him to his feet but the kid couldnt handle it. At no stage was it mentioned on the side that he should stay down. I dont care what anyone says we dont think like that. Opportune some might say but this kid has an extreme amount of talent and to make sure he is properly sorted. I couldnt give a rats toss if anyone doesnt like how it was handled. As long as he was looked after thats all that counts. The field ump said to take him directly as the outer part of the oval was not too much chop to walk with a stretcher. At that pioint in the game everuyone can have an optimistic thought that any person stretchered off may be able to return. If he went off the boundary you have to wait 20mins of play to return (even if the chance is remote). Even from thr time he was removed FP still had some of the momentum and still kicked a goal as it went coast to coast for the 3rd time in that quarter. Plus they got the next clearance and delivered forward seemlesly.
