Who you kidding. Saw a bit of the game today and Portland are a very average side who have got lucky. Heard they have won by 8pt, 1pt and 4pts. Should not have won today and should not have won the game against the Pride of the Peninsula in Round 1. Will be lucky to avoid relegation still. Will not trouble the good sides in the competition like PAC and University and TT Gully who are just behind Port District as favourites. Uni and PAC are the tough ones and still flying under the radar. Two fantastic sides. A lucky Portland who could easily be 0-3.

Well Portland just beat Flinders who have beaten Uni n only just went down to PAC last week... Portland are playing really well as a team atm. They will be fresh and raring to go after an extended break next round against Uni.

Your kidding me surely. PAC and Uni are a class above everyone except probably Port District. Portland will not get close to either. You are joking for sure

Man if you didn't see it today, how can you say whether they are or are not the real deal.

Firstly, win 6 in a normal year and you're not going anywhere. Portland will have no problems winning 12 - 15 games and give it a real shake.

As I said, these blokes are the real deal and what's more I reckon they know it and quite rightly. Some blokes on the mound were predicting great things this year and I say more power to them.

Did see a bit of it today and you guys at Uni and the PAC guys are the sides to beat other than the Pride of the Peninsula at Largs. Portland won't win more than 6 or 7 games tops and have been very lucky. Saw the game in parts today and a lucky win, as in Round 1. You blokes from Uni will easy beat them next game from what I saw today. You are surely joking about them making the five lol lol lol

Yardy, stick to cricket mate.

As a proud districts man, Portland showed alot of class and skill. Nothing like the Portland of old. Superboots Wareing would be racking up some good B&F votes, he kept them in the game and kicked some cruical goals and cruical times. They have won a few close ones, but in the end they are 3-0 rather than 0-3.

Round three And Portland 3 from three. Who would of thought???? Great example of a team playing for the club and each other, some clubs seem to have forgotten what ameture league football is all about and that's it... Enticing players with plasma tvs king size beds and healthy sign on fees doesn't seem to be putting the points on the board.... Three very close encounters for the underdogs... A long way to go yet but great signs for a young side that don't seem to be chasing dollars just happy to play for THERE club !!!!!

Doesnt matter now. We are nothing like the old Portland. lthough i would love to see taht bloke Mong out on the track for old times sake ;) We have moved on from those dyas. It has taken a while but it does come down to a lot of things but fo now its the coaching group, the atmosphere between the palying group (on the track and before/during a game)and the actual culture within the playing group. Some things have not changed in other parts of the club but the players and the coaches want nothing to do with that. We just want to play footy and enjoy ourselves doing it. Simple.

Given the fact that Modbury beat TTG and you have TTG in your list of "good sides", does that mean Modbury are a final 5 team?

So if they have beaten Port Districts who are the favourites in your book how will they not trouble TTG, PAC and UNI? Clearly you arent thinking straight after 3 big celebrations recently! :weedman: :drinkers: :partyman: :butthead:

Yardy, surely you must be that bloke that stands on the hill at Districts (opposite to club rooms) and yells abuse at everyone who gets near the ball, including your own players. Because that is how much of a knob you are being at writing the tripe you do.
Pride of the Peninsula, at the moment the facts are that your not, Portland are... going by results.

You are right though with some of your thoughts  PAC and Uni along with Walkies if they can get over the finals yips will be the threats. Sides like Districts, Portland, Modbury and Eastern Park are very similar. Big bodies who like it close in. A bit of mongrel in the side which wins games. However finals are played in most likely dry weather and on big ovals like Thebby. That is when the fitness and skill level of sides like Uni's and PAC will shine through.

Thinking sensibly about the D2 results so far, I reckon its wide open.
I thought TTG might be way out in front of the rest with their win over Iggies, but then Modbury knock them off.
If Uni had kicked straight, they could have beaten Iggies by 15 goals, so Iggies are looking vulnerable.

Too early to pick any front runners yet (other than Portland who must be favourites despite Yardy's protestations ;) )

I still think Districts are the team to beat. When they mesh properly and play to Rockets game plan i think they are the team with the most potential to destroy other teams. I dont think they will lose at home this year and are still my tip to finish top. Gully and Districts to go up for mine but id be suprised if the likes of Walkies, the under achieving Uni and the over achieving Portland dont throw some spanners into the works of my tip.
It is only very early but at least it looks like a very even Div this year and should be filled with upsets regularly. Currently sitting in the relegation zone are East park and Uni and neither of those 2 will be relegated im almost certain.
