Was good quality game and the hawks pressure was extremely good against last years div1 premiers. modbury were without a handful of starters so it will be good to see how they measure up come round 1.......

The Hawks are now the premiership favourites, going that close to Gaza is a great effort, especially with so many out.

Heard Modbury played another trial on the weekend against div 3 side Pooraka. Only won by about 10 points? Bit of a contrast to the first weeks trial isn't it? :?

Heard geelong lost to richmond by 60pts in a trial this year bit of a contrast from last year dont you think??? In my first post i was going on words from a convo id had with a spectatior........ never did i say they were flag contenders or top 3 etc.... i said it would be good to see how they measure up come round 1!!! tell me if i said theyd won the 2012 flag?

Lets hope so we don't want a comp being dominated by a cashed up Districts. It could be a very boring comp to watch if it goes accordingly. Some competition would be nice.

Uni played Gaza last saty and ran with them for 2 and 1/2 quarters with 13 starting A graders out. They will be very competitive and Trimmers was all smiles. :D

Don't play it down finn. Uni's have spent too long in Div 2, It's time for them to get back up to the top flight. They will dominate this division this year

being there i could think of 8 or 9 but not 13... I agree that it's time we went back up and hopefully the heartbreak of two extra time losses will drive the lads.
was good to see some lads from c1 play in the a grade trial

For all the crap you read on here one thing is for sure. Port Districts will be very strong this year. They knocked off Gaza in a trial yesterday.

Well by now most teams would have finished their trial games off and are preparing for round 1 in 11 days.
So lets get some tips and opinions for round 1. I kick it off:

PAOC V Eastern Park: PAOC for mine, and I would think by a comfortable 5-6 goals. Heard Eastern Park have lost a few and PAOC should again be a competitive side this year.
TTG V Old Iggies: This should be an easy win for the Gullies first up. Iggies lost a few from last year and TTG have signed plenty. TTG by 12+ Goals with Kells kicking at least half a dozen at his new club
Portland V Port Districts: The local derby! Should be a lot of feeling in this game, but aside from an all in brawl stopping the game Districts should get the points here easily. Again a comfortable 12+ goal win.
Adel Uni V Flinders Park: Without doubt the match of the round in my eyes. Two sides who should both play finals footy this year. I think however the Uni boys will be too strong and will win by around 4-5 goals.
Walkerville V Modbury: The Catters will be out to show they are once again contenders this year after a disappointing finals show last year. Great depth at the club should see a comfortable win for them.

Now this is all based on purely nothing other than rumours and pre-season games I have been told about. Feel free to point out my flaws. ;)

Sh*t!!!. Bloke just tells me SPOC beat Walkies by 10 goals but he did admit that he couldn't work out whether SPOC had significantly improved from 2011 or Walkies had fallen off the wagon.

Time will tell, still 22 weeks of the season to go.

Two posts up, Footy Follower predicts the round 1 winners. Interestingly, I reckon all those winners will be in the top 5 at the end of round 18. Just the order would be open for debate

I know someone from Gaza looking for players to fill their C grade side for the trial so they must have had a few out up the line......
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
