Good luck! Hope you can work it out - looks a win/win for both parties if you can come to an agreement!

Seems as though merger talks are on in earnest. A couple of inner Northern clubs considering a similar move.

Which leads to another point, why did the League allow St Pauls OS to reform when they folded and became Mawson Lakes? Not enough players to service all of the clubs in that area now I would have thought!!

The only mergers i can see of any value there would be Fitzroy/BOS or Gepps Cross/Greenacres. The Fitzroy/BOS one is more likely due to BOS having no clubhouse and Fitzroy getting a college based recruiting ground. Gepps X/Greenacres one is based solely on the close proximity of each other and a name change could work to get rid of the stigma that Gepps X currently have due to the recently unwanted publicity they have had.

If your club were to merge, would you rather combine the names of the clubs or just go with a new name?
Off the top of my head, the merged clubs that have combined names are SMOSH/West Lakes, Unley/Mercedes, PHOS/Camden. The ones who changed the name are Goodwood, Portland, Pt Districts.

Goodwood Saints - Goodwood and St Raphaels.

My mistake. Take them out of the equation but the question remains, merge names or go with something different?

Norwood Districts was a short-lived renaming of Hectorville

Would Gepps Cross & Greenacres rename themselves Northfields?

Payneham Norwood Union is a merger of Norwood Union and Payneham

Fitzroy = St Dominics, St Peters YCW & Renown Park (which itself was a merger of Brompton & Albert Druids)

What about the takeovers
Lockleys and Torrensville United merge to form Lockleys (1979)
Edwardstown and Black Forest merge to form Edwardstown (1938)
Grange and Henley Beach merge to form Grange (1920) - later merged with a new Henley team to form Henley and Grange
Uraidla and Summertown merge to form Uraidla (1922)
Adelaide University and Roseworthy College merge to form Adelaide University (1998)

Didn't say they were, it was just an observation from the list of clubs that was posted. It was the only merge that was of most benefit to both clubs.

Nup, name change only.

Hectorville became Norwood District then reverted back to Hectorville in the 90's.

I played for both (@ the same club). There was no amalgamation.
