Just getting some match fitness FC, he is assistant coach of Norwood's under 16's so he cant make the early game..

I know Modbury's C grade coach would love to have him all year but i think thats pretty unlikely.. still a handy man to line up with on the weekend!

Ahh, so he's hanging out with the Riddler then... nice one.

Nice work - give your dad a kiss for me ;)

I've played a lot of footy and today's game D4 reserves was one for the memory box

Yes it's div 8 reserves

But what an umpire deliberately take control of a game and start telling players to shut the '****' up was completely disgusting! Mr light blue cap was a few snags short of a bbq. Hang up the whistle idiot! You ruined the game.

Judging by the first two rounds of results looks like it's shaping up to be a very even division with everyone capable of beating each other on their day. Always a good sign in a C Grade comp

if you have 25 players in the team then that is 7 on the bench

if these 7 players only get to play 50% of the game on the field, they will each have to swap with another 7 players (who started on the ground) who will also get 50% of the game on the ground

therefore 14 players out of 25 will only get to play 50% of the game

Only if 7 swap only with the same 7.

The other way of looking at it is if you have 18 spots on the field for 25 players, the average player gets 72% of the game on the field.
A and B graders get 86%.

Alternatively, C&D graders spend 28% of the game on the bench, which is double the 14% A and B graders spend on the pine.

my trance so far has it like so...

each game is 80 minutes long

18 spots on field available with 80 minutes means....

18 positions * 80 minutes = 1440 minutes to share around

so the size of the cake available is always 1440 minutes, no matter how many players you have

if 10 players never come off (agraders) their share is 800 minutes of the cake (10*80 minutes)

Therefore the remaining 15 players have to share the remaining 640 minutes, therefore...

# 640 minutes/15 players = 42.6666 minutes per player on average per game which is just over 2 quarters per player

Yes

In the bigger picture of returning the SAAFL to 8 10 team Grades (depending if any new clubs want to bite on entrance) is working out a workable situation re 25 players playing C Grade.

This year has shown us thus far that the gap between Div 7 and 8 is likely negligible, but from a total club perspective Div 8 is a much better bet, substantially the reason being the 25 person C Grade.

If you want clubs to go up, particularly " 1 oval" clubs to go up there needs to be a workable solution to having C Grades in Div 7 allowed to field 25 players.

ok adjusting to 22 minutes.....

my trance so far has it like so...

each game is 88 minutes long

18 spots on field available with 88 minutes means....

18 positions * 88 minutes = 1584 minutes to share around

so the size of the cake available is always 1584 minutes, no matter how many players you have

if 10 players never come off (agraders) their share is 880 minutes of the cake (10*88 minutes)

Therefore the remaining 15 players have to share the remaining 704 minutes, therefore...

# 704 minutes/15 players = 46.93 minutes per player on average per game which is just over 2 quarters per player

EDITED: miscalculation

# 784 minutes/15 players = 52.266 minutes per player on average per game which is just over 2.25 quarters per player

I don't understand your point and I definitely don't understand why you wouldn't divide 1584 by 25

lets not go there

the discussion i brought up is to highlight that by having 25 players on your team, then up to 15 players will only get to play 52 minutes per game (just over 2 quarters)
