Trinity is in Gawler and that is classified a town not a suburb. Houghton would be close to that also

Trinity is South of Gawler, south of South Gawler even, besides, they don't have juniors in AdFL.

Walkerville Council is known as the Town of Walkerville, I guess that makes them country too.

For what its worth, the statutory definition of metropolitan Adelaide includes (in addition to the obvious) the City of Onkaparinga, the Corporation of the Town of Gawler and the part of the area of the Adelaide Hills Council formerly comprising the areas of the District Council of East Torrens and the District Council of Stirling. Therefore Aldinga, Gawler, McLaren Vale, Stirling, Aldgate and some of the nearer Hills towns (including Houghton I think) are in the metropolitan area. This means that all 9 SFL clubs are in the metro area, some HFL clubs, 1 GSFL club and 1 or 2 BLGFL clubs.

2x GSFL clubs, McLaren & Willunga are both in City of Onkaparinga, as is Kangarilla and Ironbank (the oval, not the township in Ironbank's case)

Any members involved in any Junior sides this season noticed a growing trend of disturbing behaviour from juniors?

In our under 12's game last week, one of our players was punched and kicked by 3 players behind the play.
He came off and took no further part in the game.
He had 2 days off school with concussion symptoms and wont play this week either.

I have coached now for 6 years and I find the anti social play from seniors is definitely infiltrating junior footy from a very young age.

I am no shrinking violet either.

It's disturbing.

Moe , did you lodge a club report ?

Yes, apparently we did. I will say that the opposition coach reacted very quickly, asking who were the offender(s) as he didnt see the incident. 1 player was taken off immediately.

Done my time in Junior footy as a coach and Junior President.

Always was "spot" fires against certain teams and complaints lodged but must say in my time ass far as on the field went there was only one incident that was totally out of order that i ever witnessed and the lad involved got a very hefty suspension. (8 weeks and that was U13's)

It appears these days however (and i dont go and watch a large amount of kids footy anymore) that things have certainly got alot tougher out on the ground with some pretty unsavoury incidents.

what the answer is who knows

There are obviously a lot of SA Footy members as passionate about junior footy on here as I am.

FWIW, I coach for 3 main reasons.
1. Because my kids play
2. To give my kids the same opportunity that I had and the sense of belonging and mateship that I got out of being part of a club.
3. To give back to my club.

I played junior footy in the late mid to late 80's in the southern footy league, and it was a good standard and tough brand of footy, and I can only remember 1 really unsavoury act in 1988 against Reynella in Under 16's.
I coached in SFL juniors at the tender age of 20, and apart from skills etc. I taught the kids to
a. Respect themselves
b. Respect their team mates
c. Respect their coaches
d. Respect the umpires
e. Respect the jumper
f. Respect the game

It is the same now. Coaching the same group from Auskick through to 13's.

The answer you ask locky801?

Starts at home obviously. This generation of parents just havent got it right, and the next generation of namby pamby dogooding, politically correct, soft ass approach to discipline we see coming through now are not going to help.

Coaches are the next step. Its obvious some clubs struggle to get coaches to fill so many positions in so many junior teams, and some are well out of their depth, but its not their fault, at least they are putting their hand up.

I also think that we should go back to the 2 year gap approach, ie. 8's,10's,12's, 14's etc.
It allows teams who are smaller and younger 1 year, to perhaps be the bigger stronger kids the following season. It could also help reduce the number of coaches needed.
I would reduce the size of the oval in under 12's from a full oval as well. Some of these grounds are massive and apart from helping the flow of play, it means coaches, officials and umpires can watch behind the play a little easier.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts.

Cheers.
Moe
