Drove past Westbournne Pk primary schools oval on Tuesday night and saw 50-60 kids training in black and red tops. Looked really professional and thought it may have been Westies. Drove past again on Wednesday night and saw another 50 or 60 all dressed the same and all different age groups. Couldn't help myself, had to stop and see who they were. Goody Sts. Well done people, very good numbers and so, so professional. SANFL clubs would be envious and your long term future is guaranteed.

I heard Portland went down by a few goals today at home. Might be a tough year for the Power.

If he was at Henley no doubt he'd be playing D's.

why have u got last years grand finalist third to bottom and gaza sitting third when last year they spent the season fighting relegation

whats new about these squads that justifies your tip?

Salisbury North have lost some quality players. They will certainly be tested but count them out at your own cost. Gaza have their premiership team back along with other recruits from Golden Grove and Hectorville. Heard they were solid last year with the skill level to certainly match div1.
Any news from ROCS?

Not sure how many big A grade games they will get from the Hectorville recruits but the ins of Kerr, Stephens and these types will be huge for them. Will play finals, lock them in.

What was the result of the Port Districts game v Willaston on Saturday.
How did the Port Districts people see Willaston as a team this year.

Went to Thebby today SPOC have got a new gun forward No 24 Ryan Herring (?) was the only multiple goal scorer for them with 5
Smith looked awesome as usual. I'd like to see Smith and Holm go one on one. Both competitive people

Holm would carve him up. Even out of position

Nah smith would own him. Holm wouldn't know how to man up on him if SPOC had the ball.

I'd take him any day of the week over Holm.

Gawler Central had their first hit out for 2014 last night at Salisbury North.
Salisbury North had two midfielders and a defender out.
Gawler Central had Four key midfielders, one defender and a forward out.

Gawler Central 1.0 5.1 7.2......10.3 (63)
Salisbury North 3.4 4.8 6.14...6.15 (51)

Does this give any indication as to the standard of the BLG competition now??
Look forward to the comments on the comparisons of the Div 1 and BLG comps....

Wow!
Gawler Central with another 6 gun players to come in, would be very competitive with a lower ranked sanfl side then.

What an impressive league

Good to see you're taking so much out of a trial game.

Just stating the facts bird of prey and let's not over exaggerate it, I believe people have been saying for years the BLG would not be competitive with the Division 1 comp.

I have always been one who thinks the standard would be closer than many think.

While I think that the top 6-8 players (imports etc.) per side in either league would be comparable, and perhaps even in the BL&GFA's favour, I think the bottom-rung/fringe players in the ammos would have the advantage.

This isn't a slight against leagues like the BL&GFA and the APFL, I just think in the suburbs they have to rely less on juniors to sometimes make up the numbers due to points and population constraints. At least that's how it was explained to me by a Gawler Centrals supporter yesterday.

I know the debate will continue, as it has done for years, but there's no real way of knowing, as ammo and country sides never play each other in meaningful games for points.

The top sides in the bl&g league would normally be very competitive div 2 teams in the saafl I believe, with what I seen last night gawler central would be a decent div 1 side but saying that with their player budget this year you would wanna hope so!
