One Eyed, what we are talking about happened about 6 or so years ago, was just curious to see weather similar might happen again this year at seaton, by no stretch has it happened or likely to happen for that matter just throwing up a suggestion and as i think Paul has a pretty good relationship with alot of the playing group and its not uncommon for players to follow coaches to new clubs.

We still dont no if he is leaving seaton so this may all be a waste of time but im bored with no footy

From memory there were about 15 or 16 that left and 10-12 of them would have been regular A graders at Portland at the time.
Marshall, Virgin, Gale, Sajatovic, Heffernan, Kretschmer, Walker, Urbank, Duffett, Griffith, Fimmel, Webber from memory.

Marshall - seaton
, Virgin - retired went to Gepps
, Gale retired went to seaton
, Sajatovic seaton
, Heffernan seaton
, Kretschmer WA (dunno if I would count him as a regular A grader?)
, Walker unsure
, Urbank Flinders park
, Duffett retired in Eng
, Griffith unsure
, Fimmel retired
, Webber coaching Port Magpies 18's now. went to Encounter bay i believe?
from memory.

How many are still at Seaton?

thats what i believe they are doing, not all of them went to seaton but still to loose that many starting a graders is hard on a club!

i dont see the problem my posts have been about a coaching job for 2011, correct me if im wrong but i think thats what the thread tittle is, not about portland at all if you have another read i think you will find its about the Seaton B grade job which at the present time is throwing up the most controversy so why wouldnt we discuss it on this thread.

I think the point is that if a player or a coach leaves a club and certain sheep follow there's nothing that can be done about it. Marshy left Portland in 05 and went to Seaton, there were already 7 or more players from Portland there at the time he arrived. The players that left when Paul did went onto enjoying their time at the club and i doubt his influence was the reason, Marshy then had a short stint in the country, there wernt to many that followed him there???????

Just a question that popped into my head while reading the posts that i hope someone can answer for me.

Hypothetically without knowing too much about it, could that sort of exodus from 1 club to another occur with this new points system that i think is coming in, assuming the majority all move tot he same club?

I dont know anything about the system but i hear that it is making its way in? is that correct? or is it a way off yet?
