From what ive heard and seen the club has put the right people in place to take the club forward some 2-3 years ago. This year is also the first time both A's and B's will play on Grand Final day together and the club has never had so much depth and there will be at least 5-10 blokes unlucky to miss out on a game this week.
I think you will be competitive for one huge reason:

Your B Grade.

Massive depth at Houghton and that is what is so important in D6. When you cop injuries you can't rely on catching a C Grade side and still rolling them.

First time ever the club hasnt been running around trying to find players to fill the b grade now we have 15 blokes not getting a game each week.

It was ridiculous, but entertaining at times..

My original point stands, no matter how much Morell mumbo jumbo you put on it, Having a superior incentives scheme is not paying players, especially when you lumped Lockleys in with CLG and Rosewater who would be operating on a near div 1 type budget..

I think you'll find for those sides coming into div 6 that it is actually quite even beyond the top 3, I cant speak for every club but I know the club im involved in does not pay a cent, and we finished 4th, so its not like you will be coming up competing against massive budgets like the days gone by.. By the sounds of it, Mitchell Park and Trinity have very similar incentive schemes, and don't pay players, so the jump isn't as great as before.. Admittedly you wont get a Flinders Uni to fall back on if you have a heap out one week, but all clubs go through that, regardless of division..

Will Roling be included into the A Grade side for the GF?

hi morell..

i am impressed with your ability to know everything about every clubs player payments and budgets in 2015..thats quite a skill..

yoursemi professional club should be well suited to div 6 next year:

B*** D******: 100% of all profits raised will be given to the Mitchell Park Football Club and this will be at their discretion to use the funds as they see fit. The only recommendation we have made (and hope will be taken on board) is for funds to be used to entice new senior players and enhance the great work done with the juniors.

good luck this week to MPFC and HDFC..i would like to see chris bradford and yankman get a flag but also i think Q and his club are due for one..somebody will miss out..

bye morell..

What if I give out $100 for 21st best player

There is a point where there is no distinction between "incentives" and payments. Whether Lockleys' meets it I'm not sure.

Sweet! I'll go and let the ATO know that my bonus this year for meeting my KPI's isn't taxable as it doesn't count as a payment.

Why didn't anyone let me know earlier that if you actually earn your money it doesn't count!

human_torpedo wrote:especially when you lumped Lockleys in with CLG and Rosewater who would be operating on a near div 1 type budget..
I said Lockley's pay ok. And they do. As a young man and footballer you can earn a bit of extra spending money if you go to Lockley's. Which is great and good luck to them.

D6 is the first full A grade division, so it's only natural that there are more clubs that have a Lockley's type setup or a Rosewater or a CLG budget.

Traditionally (was weird this year) the majority of teams you play against in D7 have ZERO football budget spend.

Traditionally (was weird this year) the majority of teams you play against in D6 have at least a bit of a football budget spend all the way to huge budgets.

That inherent difference makes the jump the biggest in the SAAFL.

morell wrote:There is always one club in D6 that pays through the roof. In previous years it was CLG and Rosewater. I reckon Smithfield's budget would be pretty sizable and I know Lockleys pay ok.

Payments are only one aspect though, as you correctly point out. The training, commitment and motivation with D6 A Grade sides is orders of magnitude higher than your average D7 side. Makes a monumental difference.

Mate, you have no idea. Unless it's coming straight out of the coach's pocket you are dreaming. the members would stop going to the club on Friday nights if the money they were handing over the bar was going to pay players with. They struggle somewhat to pay their monthly bills without paying some players and not others.
They have no major sponsor chucking wads of money their way either, most of the players played juniors there or are good mates with players that did, I think they just like being in a successful team.

Fair enough LM, that was an assumption on my behalf (hence the use of the words "i reckon") due to the raw numbers of recruits and the quality therein for Smithfield of late. No offense was intended.

Man people get pisssy about this stuff though. It's like I am accusing clubs of kiddy fiddling the way some of you fly off the handle.

Who cares if you pay players. Whats the big freaking deal.

I feel the same way, I'd sooner see clubs spend money making their club more attractive for prospective players than having it sit in the bank, most of them are non-profit organisations.
I'd say it's more to do with the "buying premierships" debate, that's why clubs get antsy when accused of throwing cash around, Hamley Bridge is a classic example, from Premiers to getting done by 60 goals in less than 12 months.

Oh snap, yeah forgot about him as he isn't in the top goal kickers list. Will amend.

I'll be waxing lyrical about young Nick very soon though.

For those of you playing at home, I kicked the first 2 goals of the game against MP last time we met. $10 looking like good value ;)
