played C-grade i believe. personally dont know him but saw him play a few games in the finals and he seemed like he has some promise.
probably not A-grader but could play higher then he was. (which could be said for many young blokes round the club)

I dare say that wouldn't be set in concrete - Phil has been known to say yes to a few different clubs at the same time

Yep.

Surely not Fromm? OnSong would be devastated if that were the case :D

Not devastated at all.

I was campaigning all year to get this guy on the field for Walkies but the Shuffler laughed in my face and benched him time after time (a Cyndi Lauper classic, but I digress).

So he is off with his good mate Munn to the Thunderers and is tearing down the track already. Put on some "good" weight in the off-season and is looking as beefy as a Mighty Angus burger.

More than appropriate he ends up at Cherry Gardens, as he's popped a few in his time! POW!

we'll be right at Walkies... I'm sure we can find a couple of fwds who can kick bags of goals against poor opposition, you never know the blokes who replace them might get a kick against the top sides

Maybe if you didn't have them you might have struggled against the "poor" opposition.

There's no doubting Walkerville tend to have a constant stream of talented country youngsters filter into their ranks as they arrive at Uni, but geez, to rag a couple of guys who gave the club several seasons of loyal service, including securing premierships, that's fairly harsh!
Mind you, I'm sure Hairy_Cat posts on behalf of Hairy_Cat when he gets a break from the working on the soft serve machine.

Can I borrow your dictionary OnSong? It seems mine has a different definition of the word 'loyal' to yours...

Definitions of loyalty shouldn't come into it.

Recognising that perhaps there were better opportunities to play elsewhere for a former teammate or club member and wishing them all the best in their future endeavours certainly springs to mind.

But I guess that's an attribute a good bloke would have inside naturally, which is where you appear deficient.

Birdy to Henley is a big loss to Portland.
What was the reason he left the Thunder, money?
I heard it was to play at a higher level but i don't believe that crap as Portland have jumped a Div.
Has this got anything to do with $$$, we know Portland can be very tight when it comes to that, has he had a fall out with some team mates from Portland?
I rate Birdy as a player but i do question his honesty.

don't think it was cash mate, and dave has been very honest and up front with portland for the last few months about how unhappy he is with certain things there, i understand people there are trying to twist his words to make him look like a fool but hopefully the people there can see through that cr@p

Its funny the bullsh!t you hear around the place, i have to admit i did question Birdy's honesty because i was told he said he wasn't going anywhere, little was i told through the same source but Birdy was actually pushing the club for more recruits to be more than competitive in Div2 & the club digging a bit deeper financially to cover the 4-5 recruits they'd need to be very competitive, with that Birdy was more than keen to captain Portland in Div2 providing this took place.
The same old story here with Portland i see, reluctant to let the moths out of their pockets!
I've said it before certain people at the club let down the players that are their to play at the highest level, it was great & ok when these "certain people" were playing for Rivvies at the highest level in their day & getting success but its not ok for the current to have that same opportunity.
When will the club wake up?
When you lose more & more of those players clubs can't afford to lose.

Heard from his uncle that bird was unhappy that the club happily pays imports but when local loyal Thunder boys asked for a piece of the pie the officials said a big fat no.
Must be very a unhappy situation to make a captain to leave a club. This is just what I've heard.
