They're being a bit cagier this year than in the past but I hear they are about to sign 2 more straight out of league footy, 1 of which will blow everyone's socks off. Jack Lewis is back and so is Nick Kurzel and Clark Roberts-Thomson.

No doubt the old scholarships and swimming pool debates will start again

Well those 3 give them 12 points
11, one played more reserves than league last year so I think we have 4 to play with after the ones who were valued dropped their pt after this year

so your saying a guy that plays reserves and a bit of league football last year is worth the same points as a Division 1-4 Amateur player??

Went out to my first preseason training with 'The dizzles' last night. Good numbers, close to 40. About 15 new faces, a few old ones as well. Rocket Smitheram is really pumped and seems to be getting fitter while he is getting older.

i beleive Iggies have signed Sam Cooke from Athelstone. Is this 100% signed sealed and delivered? can someone from Iggies confirm this?

Iggies seem to have little bit of cash floating around this year due to a few big losses threw injury and work.

my old club in the country was also keen on Cooke but his price was way too high for what he has done so far. Our sources did say that he won a B & F but started the season in the B grade. Either rapid improvement or a "good player" in an average team - either way Iggies will soon find out whether he was worth it or not, just like every other player that is recruited over the silly season

Well in the late 80's at Broadview $250 per game was the norm for a lot of their players

Pretty sure there isnt an annual Police v Firies game, may have been the combined emergency services(police, ambo, fire) team which play the defence force each year. Got a name for us?

EM I know maths isn't a strong point of yours quite obviously, as 30 years ago would make 1981(early eighties) and SAAFL was truly amateur :lol:By the way I was just a hack that played in Broadies first ever A1 premiership in 1980  In answer to your statement I had well and truly retired by the late eighties, so left the big money to the next generation ;)

Would think your talking about G. Munn. He works in the police force. If this is who your talking about, would think his work would effect how often he can play as it did this year.

Would think the latter would be more accurate. After all Athelstone finished bottom in the A's and there B's were terrible.
Nothing against the lad but you do tend to stand out more if the players around you are below the competitions standard of players.

Not bad coin back then and don't think he wentthere for nothing inca the got 4 brand new tyres for his car as a sign on
