The saafl be zoned to North and South and merged with the SFL? Make it far easier for this concept to work.....

Most junior comps are played on Sunday's. Play them in school hours like they did many moons ago.

Plenty on the bus trip back to our school.

• Moving school football to mid week or a Sunday is one option, so that the junior games can be played Saturday mornings (which appears the plan) Where does college football sit though as almost certain not to change that.
• I have generally found out that people do not like even the slightest of change and it will take a lot of convincing to make a new concept work and there will be resistance.
• People from run the junior competitions now, will almost certainly not be happy and cause grief which will result in difficulties between senior and junior clubs
All up it might be tough to make the many changes needed to make it all work on a Saturday morning. Wait and see I guess. Has merit though but seems like it could get messy. Might be more feasible in years to come with more passing of time. Has merits though but a lot of water under the bridge before it could work.

There would be a major shortage of umpires should club juniors be moved to a Saturday morning.

Probably true LM but i have noticed that all our games this year from U11-U16 inclusive have had 2 umpires so obviously the merger with the CD League has bought more across which is a good thing

Possibly a few more negatives than positives at the moment, but has definite merit to it and could be like country football, which has all the junior games and netball etc, etc at the one venue.
While the standard of say the B&L and Southern League is only between D3 and D2, the actual day of going to the football is an event, and a great day out. More days like that would be good for Amateur Football IMO.
The B&L and Southern League Grand Finals are community events and are very, very well run. They are considerably better than the SAAFL Grand Finals for that reason. Maybe food for though to have the kids to make it an event for the day. Perhaps another way of looking at it.

School football....college football will never change, some schools effectively give thousands of $$ to families each year so they will sign up their gun footballer son to a school. They take it pretty seriously. If you want to talk about 'paid players', colleges school sides would probably have the biggest budget. #ethical?
Umpires. Most older umps already ump on Saturday, whilst younger ones play. In MSJFL we have 45-50 umps, nearly all of whom would be unavailable.
Where and when are you going to play the games????? TTG for eg has a zillion teams... how are you going to fit them all in?? Only so many grounds/hrs in a day. Barely fit junior games in on a Sunday

Yes - it would appear difficult at the moment to have it, but lets not close our minds from it. It could still work and lets see what happens, over the next few months or even years.
Possibly, it won't begin next year and maybe it needs more time and it sounds like it might need more time to make it all work. Lets remember that anything is possible, unless you close your minds to it happening. Just a thought.

Then there is the travel issue, parents will not be prepared to travel twice the distance early on a Saturday morning if required.
Then what about the parents who have more than one kid and suddenly have to travel to two seperate parts of the state to get their kids to games?
How do you structure the competition? North & South Divs? All in the same div? Promotion relegation?
If it aint broken then dont fix it!
