666 rule doesnt work with a two umpire system. Considering umpires don't even look for it unless someone yells from the bench

I don’t like the 6 6 6, but the reason it does work is because the players (or bench) police it. It doesn’t need 3 umpires to do it.

Juniors have been playing with it for 10 years, they all know it’s, as more kids come into seniors it’ll just become normal.

Think umpires still need some education / training over it, we had a couple of “breaches”(?) yesterday in the C grade, but A/B no issues… although would’ve been nice to stick a few behind the ball in the A grade yesterday. :(

Two warnings in the game I was at on Saturday, one for each side.

6 players from both teams in the 50s both times, players were more confused than the spectators. Even oppo players telling the umps they got it wrong...

But, multiple 3rd man up infringements ignored.

Haha in our C grade match, there was a warning given.. but there were 6 in each 50, so the oppo player ran to the other end before they would start - thus making it 7 men in their F50

Umpires in the A/B were good, and could see if players were making an effort to get into the 50 - especially if there was a rotation at the time.

We've been doing 6-6-6 for years on years now and it works fine with two umpires.

Central umpire makes sure there is 6 midfielders.

Other umpire checks his zone that there is 6 and if either don't have 6 than it means there must be one extra in the third zone. They give each other a little nod before the ball up.

If that fails the players scream like crazy and bring it the umpires attention.

Whether it works or doesn't work. whether we like it or not.. it's here to stay, can't see it changing so we just need to deal with it and move on.

I like it at B Grade level. Opens the game up a bit. Allows the good midfielders to do their work a bit haha.

Normally means we only have 113 stoppages instead of the regular 147 in a b grade game :)

Boundary umpires are supposed to, given that depending on how many are appointed two at least will start on the edge of the 50 m line and the Fieldies are supposed to check with them before throwing it up.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Goal umpires were supposed to police the two who used to be required to start in the goal square. Stand on the side of the goal square until both players were in and then move back tot he goal line. However not all leagues were smart enough to make sure their umpires followed that protocol.

With that law now changed no need for the goal umpires to be involved just leave it to the boundaries to count that there are 6 in each 50 and then inform the fieldies.

May not be a need but an extra set of eyes at each end would help

Could do a lot of things.

Or

We could just not have the rule and make everyones lives easier.

Umps at our level would have trouble deciding to put their left or right sock on first. We should be reducing the number of decisions they're required to make, not increasing.

Plus it's just not kosher. One of the strengths of this stupid game that we play is that they're aren't lines deciding where you can and can't go or esoteric offside rules and the like in even shittier sports. Its structurally free form.

And for what reason? To make the spectator experience at Divvy 7 level better. Lol carn.

C grade games dont even have to supply a boundary umpire
Not sure club volunteers or little kids get $20 or a can of coke should be making decisions like this and 99% of them wouldn't pay it against their own team.
If you want boundary and goal umpires to help out, get the league to appoint them in every game but there's not enough to go around
