Have you a link?
**** me, how did he only get one week for that. The bloke wasn't even near the contest really, nor was he even trying to block. It is pretty clear the TTG player changes directions to hit him. Should have been at least 3-4 in my opinion.
Just goes to show how inconsistent the League are, when you look at the Portland game earlier & that young bloke had never been reported before yet gets 7 games, it must depend on what club you play for or the person involved.
Bloody joke.

No doubt Uni will be videoing the game. Better make sure they have TTG permission. Will they hand over the dvd if the umpires report a Uni player and request it or will it magically disappear or be blank????? :-k :-k :-k

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

No doubt every club will be videoing their games this week, so that if they win, they have an ever lasting memory of their win...

If a Uni player gets reported, I'd be very surprised if the tape wasn't handed over as we've a vested interest in ensuring thuggery is removed as much as possible from the league whether it's generated by one of our players or visited upon us.
In my experience though Uni players don't go around throwing out late hits.

And as FC so correctly pointed out, it's the Grand Finals this week - I'd expect every club to video these games and if they see incidents that all clubs have agreed to try to remove from the league they should bring them to attention because who actually wants to play in a league where late high hits are tolerated.

So no Uni players have ever been reported for striking another in a 'late hit'?? Thats either a massive call Finn, or Uni are what every club should be aiming to be.... I do see however that the sense has prevailed and the Youtube video of the TTG player has been removed by the one who posted it!! I guess the ploy worked though, as an investigation has now been opened and the TTG player has to 're-attend' the Tribunal tomorrow night.... Will be interesting if there is a different outcome to the first!!

If the tribunal is doing their job properly and ensuring consistancy then he gets far more than 1 week. Our captain got a week for something far less that that strike.... they are chalk and cheese and shouldnt have recieved the same penalty.

Footy Smart.... Completely agree with you about the penalty.... Am simply stating the way in which the whole incident has been double handled....

Yep makes sense to me, the correct penalty should have been given in the first place... dont really need it in the lead up to a GF

A lot of people on here attacking Uni for their use of camera's. At the end of the day if a player is reported by an umpire or a behind the ball incident happens then good work for sending the footage in. Umpires have to deal with enough on the oval and from abusive crowds, so unless it happens right in front of the umpire then their evidence is going to be a bit sketchy so for the tribunal to be able to see what happened is the best outcome. I bet players have stopped and thought twice before smacking someone when they play against Uni?? So if this is the case then its good to see a club is doing their bit to stamp out "thuggery."

For him to get 1 in the first place, either the tribunal got it wrong, or the story the player gave the tribunal was differnet to that shown in the video.

Given the SAAFL has re-opened the case, I'm guessing it's the latter.

Given that, I recon he'll get a more than a few weeks off.
The SAAFL has prescribed penalties about misleading the tribunal doesn't it? Every chance we will see them come into play if that's the case.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Will he play this week as he served the 1 game last week, or will Uni pressure the SAAFL to play it out sooner rather than later

Believe that the story presented to the tribunal and the video show the incident in totally different lights.

Wish we could have penalties for any member of the tribunal who misleads the people on the other side of the table. But that one is for another day ;)

I'm not saying that a Uni player has never thrown a late hit but I'm suggesting that we, as a club, would act on those players and have an interest in ensuring that the tribunal sets an example so that players think twice about indulging in these acts (generally as we tend to cop it much more than dish anything out).

I know in the last few years we've gently requested people move on who have tended to be a bit loose on the field.I acknowledge the efforts that many other clubs have put into cleaning up their acts and players; the SAAFL is about a million times better than it was during the late 80's, early 90's.

Weirdly though, the guy who youtubed the video doesn't play for, and isn't an official of, the club...

As an aside, I believe if the tribunal had seen the video, the penalty would have been somewhere between 2-4 weeks.
