Definitely. Just ask finn and Blacks130.
If we did, we could unlike TBS's club. 8 weeks behind in the rent and going up to Div 2 with no green. Good luck

We are just doing what Unihas for 100 years....tricking people into thinking we are not paying players.

Has it been your experience that you need money to do well in div 2?

Aside from probably div 1, I think clubs that think paying players is the answer to success have a long road ahead of them.
I would say every club probably needs to pay 1 or 2 key players to build a team around, but clubs that go out and buy 5-10 players in hope of winning a premiership and going up divisions will see their club fall back down the divisions just as quickly!
Once the money is gone, so will the loyalty.

I can almost guarantee if Port Districts don't go up to div 1 next year, they will run out of money, and all their prized recruits this year will go elsewhere for their coin. It's happened before and it will happen again.
Other clubs that this has happened too in the past 5 years or so... North Haven, Greenacres, Salisbury West, Old Iggies.
Clubs need to spend the money investing in their junior system and also their club rooms etc. Make the club somewhere that people will want to go and take their kids there to play. Develop your 16's and 18's into senior players who will stick around at the club for years.

Port Districts has every one of its junior teams playing finals. The PDFC under 18's have played in the last 3 grand finals if not more. There are PDFC under 16's that are well over 6"3 already and they are dominating that grade.

Ok guys, I guess I had two points which in Port Districts case kind of contradicted themselves.
I was simply saying that promoting your juniors is a better idea than trying to buy yourself up the grades. I agree that Port Districts do have a strong junior system, especially U/16's and 18's, which is why they have been in div 1 and div 2 for years. Similar to Henley and Goodwood. I think I have actually mentioned Districts in previous posts when talking about teams with strong 16's and 18's.
I was simply stating that perhaps some of the players or coaches you gained this year that you are paying money will venture elsewhere if they are not offered the same money next year!

Dylan Olive from TTG is a lucky boy from Saturday after only copping one game giving him the opportunity to play the GF if they get over Port Districts.
Having seen both sides over the last two weeks, I believe Tea Tree Gully will win in what is going to be a very physical clash as both sides have some hard nuts; however Gullies seem to have the edge in pace around the packs. It's going to be a good one to watch.

just saw the video.....

how they graded that negligent not intentional is hilarious!
personally i think the saafl and clubs have done a good job this year stamping out blokes who do run foul. but when a bloke changes his line too go elbow a bloke high......

TTG should get over Pt D this week, to quick on a big ground imo. and the weather should be cherry ripe for them!

**** me, how did he only get one week for that. The bloke wasn't even near the contest really, nor was he even trying to block. It is pretty clear the TTG player changes directions to hit him. Should have been at least 3-4 in my opinion.

Unfortunately young Dylan tends to have some anger issues at times - always has. Wouldnt call him an out and out thug though, Unfortunately this is definitely not his first offence, I haven't seen the above footage because i dont' have Youtube at work but still a bit surprised at the leniency.

Good player but, when he's focused....
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

If it was a Portland bloke he would of got 6

Does the the University Match Review Panel also provide medical reports ? They might be able to increase penalty to their satisfaction if they aren't, I'm sure there is no shortage of doctors out there to concoct some tripe when called upon
