Not sure if that's in their plans for the season but I woulda thunked it would be challenging to utilise for a div 4 club. Perhaps ambition and capabilities might have had their lines blurred. Time will tell I guess. I watched them play a game last year and they definitely weren't using it then."

Woody South employed a full press in Div 6 last year and won a flag! As long as they have players come to training and practice it over and over I can't see a problem with it. Perhaps capabilities of the opposition might not be able to handle it either........food for thought!

Pembroke played it last year as well.
I noticed Brighton and Golden Grove tried it in trial games this year as well

Was that Plymptons first trial?

Not sure but they have another against Div 4 flag montys NorfAvan. It may even be tonight. Definitely at some point this weekend.

Their skills were very good and I wondered whether they had trialled before which helped their skill level.

CLG skill level was down a bit and that was their first trial

The Plympton lads were a good bunch of blokes also, wish them well.

Any word on how Brighton looked in R1? Presume Walkerville aren't expected to be much of a threat this year?

Interesting to see Will Rivers line up for City in the recent Adelaide Oval game, after years of representing Country!

I wasn't at the game but a friend of mine at Brighton said the players struggled with the umpiring as they are got away with more physicality in the SFL. He said they got pinned more free kicks than they would have in the SFL. He reckons the coaching staff are confident they will play in the GF this year but that's to be played out. I expect them to play finals. If they kicked straight the margin would've been bigger.

As for us, seems that we fell into old habits at times but with a new coaching group it may take a few games for it all to click. Our B's did win which was good to see. Looking forward to playing WOS this weekend.

Yep doesn't surprise me, Brighton were a pretty physical team in the SFL which will suit them on the smaller ovals, but on the bigger SFL grounds you can probably get away with a bit more.

Any oval is bigger compared to ours.

But very wide Suri. Took our guys a while in all grades to work out where they could shoot at goal or not. Distance from goal seemed difficult to gauge for our lads. A "50 metre" line that is marked at 43.5 metres (so I was told) probably didn't help. Our blokes have a big adjustment to make with the style of umpiring and how the opposition plays to that style. But overall it was a nice return to the SAAFL on a great autumn day and one of the nicer grounds in metro Adelaide (when its dry). And the Walkerville Ladies Day was an added bonus!!!

50 odd ladies, mainly netballers, was always going to make it a good day off the field.

I thought it was less than 43 metres as I use to be able to kick goals from the arc

It is impressive but I reckon the score was something like 12-10 from memory

That sounds more like a b grade game score. The correction will bring your percentage down a smidge

Brighton starting to show why a top level Div 2 club shouldn't be in Div 3?
