Would be tough to get right I think, won't satisfy everyone.

My sons team is in div 1 based only on results of the trials ( won all 3 easily against Western teams), they have either won almost no games each season for 4 years and then last season just missed finals after winning 8 games. Had they gone in Div 2, based on trials played they would have gone very well but is it better to play a higher standard and not win as much or play lower div and win a premiership (not saying that we would have but would have been in contention based on the trials)?

I'm honestly not sure what is better for the kids

I think if you can head into most games thinking your a chance then you can be rewarded if you play well. No point playing higher standard if no chance of winning.

Happens in most Associations each season, cant get everything right i guess, not sure about other Associations but the NEMJFA try to redress it by the end of round 3 and regularly move sides getting belted in higher grades down and those winning by big margins in lower grades get bought up. Problem with that is there is such a large gap between the two grades.

Wonder if the rules are he same in the SANFL Juniors comp for players the get selected for SANFL clubs that if they play for the SANFL club they cannot play in the SANFL Juniors comp the next day.

Something really has to be done about this alleged rule. We had 11 players out last Sunday as they represented clubs in the U16 comp in the SANFL and got thumped, albeit we only had 16 players, this week we top up with U15's.

These players however are still permitted to play for their school or college during the week.

Does anyone know if the same rules apply in the SANFL newly formed Juniors comp

It's not in the rules of the junior comps (AFAIK) but is a rule the SANFL clubs place on their players.

NEMJFA has no problem with blokes playing on the same weekend, whereas Norwood does. Take it up with the relevant SANFL club and they may show some leniency

Thanks Jo, am aware of the position of the NEMJFA, my point here is i dont see that it is fair that these kids are allowed to play for their school but not their home club

Aren't they only free to play the school mid-week matches though?

When the SANFL and School matches are both on the weekend player has to choose (or realistically the choice is made for them).

No, notice from the sides selected today in the U16 Div sides a number are missing tomorrow for college football. So it impacts those Dev squads that have college kids in them. Seems North drew the lucky straw by only losing a couple with Blacks not playing tomorrow, still doesn't make it fair that their original clubs miss out on them, after all would think most of the lads would have played for their club way before school footy

Surprise, Surprise, SANFL take over the Junior leagues and now they ban parents from the huddles. Who didn't see that coming!!!!!

All ages.

That's been banned in NEMJFA for years.

Parents should sit in their deck chair and watch from a distance.

Also notice on the SANFL website for the games, the actual scores are posted, none of this mercy rule stuff.

Finally some more common sense

Might be no mercy rule over a certain age noticed there was one game we had more goal kickers than goals. That might also be a hangover of the person putting it in.

There is a mercy rule and i saw it in action yesterday. After the lead is 10 goals (i think), every time the team that is winning gets another goal, the losing team get free kick at CHF instead of a centre ball up.
