Na mate, just know most of the people that run it. Their best opportunity to join a country league would be APFL and they just gained Robertstown to finally give them an equal number and from what I gather they'd rather spread north than go metro, the Barossa League requires a fenced oval, netball and junior teams in U/17 & U/15, so that would count them out.

I thik that they'd be concerntrating on establishing themselves as a senior club before making any big moves like that.

i`d like to know how you think we have just gained Robertstown?
A decision has not yet been made M`cqueen unless of course you have inside information that we don`t..
Please explain your statement and where you got your facts from?
thanks

No inside info mate, I was under the impression it was all go ahead. Nevertheless, I don't think that the APFL would be that interested in going more metro from the reports that I've heard.

ok i think it would be great if it does happen having 7 teams in a comp is not enough you need an even number.

Won't be certain until March I reckon. Until then, we suffer in our jocks.

nuggety goodness wrote:it'll be interesting to see how Pines and Wingfield go getting two sides together, i'm pretty confident that we will at Ovies, i'd say they Pines if they did would be mid table and Wingfield would finish bottom. St Pauls were very competative a few years back but went backwards a little bit, did Horse leaving have anything to do with that? Houghton coming down should be competitive again and the other sides i don't know much about. 2-3 Years ago Paralowie were mid table if i remember correctly, did they recruit well or have other teams fallen away?

firstly nuggety goodness, for ovies , wingies and pineys to put in a B grade all the three teams are gonna have to recruit at least 15 to 20 players min. i know you may say we had 10 to 15 guys missing out each week last year, we only need to recruit a few more, but the true fact is if these guys were not getting a game they wont stick around next year, plus they were prob crap anyway...realistically youll need 20-25 coz of injuries , club spits, weddings etc to be at least competitive....with st pauls, they went to one side a few years ago, done an ovingham, and won the gf in a C gr comp with the A grade , but since going back to two sides havent really set the world on fire, this is why they are still in div 7. with paralowie , they have always had two sides, whether good or bad they still fielded 2 teams, so really you cannot put this club in your line of thinking , if you know what i mean.....1 of these three teams may have 2 sides but id be very very very surprised if all of them do......thts just my thoughts on what your saying.....i cant remember the last time ovies had A s and B s and ive been in the saafl all my life...

West Croydon went back to 1 team a few years ago for a season or 2. Then came back and went top in Div7 a few years after and have fielded 2 to 3 teams since. Its not impossible.

I think we (st.pauls) will be very competitive this year, but I do agree with gothebombers cannot see all 3 of those teams
fielding 2 teams each. We haven't been great the last 3 years, but bar last year we should of gone up in 2006 and 07, but
stuffed up in the finals. At the same time we came up against good opponents in Blackfriars and Colonel Light Gardens. The comp last year wasn't as good I thought, but we didnt have the same cattle as previous years. I think Houghton will be competitive, especially if they are spending as much as their players were saying a few weeks ago!
Love playing Houghton and had some crackers against them in the past. Should be an interesting year

But who can you blame Coaches? Players? Umpiries?

Anyway for those 2 years we probaly had the 2nd best team and couldnt get it right when it came to finals.........

you didnt have the 2nd best team in 2007, wingfield easily had the 2nd best team, maybe even the best, but disipline cost them so dearly against trinity in the prelim

I think in 2006 Wingfield were probably the second best side as well but discipline and injury cost them against Houghton in a home final as well

Although just checking the saafl website have just seen that st pauls did finish second in the minor premiership rounds so am happy to be told otherwise but i believe that st pauls could have done better that year then what they ended up doing.

That was what I was trying to get at they finished the minor rounds second but went out in finals with two losses. Therefore they could have done better then they did although still a good side they just choked in finals the same as i guess wingfield did against houghton. although i know they had injury concerns as well as a lack of discipline. I know that one of there players played that game with a torn rotator cuff and picked up more marks then half there forward line which says something about the way they played

Nth Pines have appointed Mal McPhedran as A Grade coach and Ben Schomann as B Grade coach for the 2009 season. So Nth Pines will be nominating for Div 7 next season.
