I think most people reckon that the teams playing this weekend are basically playing for second spot.

CBC have locked up the premiership and the rest are playing for promotion. :)

Woodville South are playing the best footy heading into finals with some pretty consistent games over the last 6 weeks:

Lost CBC 4 points
Won Pulteney 52 points
Won Smithfield 33 points
Won Kenilworth 38 points
Won Lockleys 10 points
Won Blackfriars 46 points

They have an even spread of their best players across the field Smith (Forward/Back), Hains (Midfield), Summer (Forward) and Brusnahan (Back). They also have the height to match key forwards down back and the strength up forward to kick a big score. The most impressive part for me is their young kids that play on the wing good luck in catching them. They might of finished in 5th but they'll be CBC's biggest challenge if they can remain unbeaten.

Hard to argue with these numbers then isn't it.
Always have to factor in the CBCOC finals factor though :o

Here’s hoping that Pulteney get their act together off field this week. I’m looking forward to something more than either a sausage or a piece of leather pretending to be steak but I doubt it.. Is there any good cafes or delis nearby? Seriously, isn’t one of the conditions for hosting a home final adequate spectator facilities?

With all due respect, I can count on both hands the sport-free Saturdays I've had over the past 7 years, there is no chance in hell i'd travel out to the worst ground in the comp, and run the worst BBQ in the AdFL especially with rain forecast. ;)

If Lockleys lose next week how many times will they have gone out in straight sets in the last decade?

Finals appearances last 10 years (2008-2018)
Lockleys: 9
Pulteney: 4

Relegations last 10 years (2008-2018)
Lockleys: 1
Pulteney: 3

"Straight sets" for Lockleys:
2017
2009 - finished 5th, knocked out in the Elimination Final.
2008 - finished 5th, knocked out in the Elimination Final.

To be fair, for half of those years Pulteney were 2 divisions higher than Lockleys, only the last three years have they met at the same level or Lockleys have been higher - so not exactly comparing apples with apples.

Certainly not comparing apples with apples, just thought it was a pretty unnecessary cheap shot , so thought i'd highlight that despite what they may think, Lockleys actually haven't the "chokers" that was insinuated.

Anyway, Woody South fast emerging as the contenders to CBC.. they're running white hot at the moment.

Saw what happened with Locks goalkicking? Was it windy, poor set shots, pressure from Pultney, all of the above?
