Unfortunately Ingle Farm have had two clubs back out of trial games this pre-season.. so seeking an opponent for Saturday, 23 March.

Happy to travel, or host, not fussed. Looking ideally at A/B/C or a A and B/C combined. Preferable for a D5 / D7 standard..

If anyone is interested, please feel free to contact me.. 0455 268 590

First time I’ve looked at who’s in this divvie, should be sponsored by OTR.

At least 3 of the 8 clubs are within 5 minutes of each other.

Smithfield have 4 drives over an hour each, and that’s if they only have to travel to thrm grounds once.

Do clubs hire a bus for these "road trips" like country clubs do?

TTG did once to play against us. The bus couldn't get into the carpark so they had to walk from the street to the changeroom

I played for Red Cliffs in Mildura for a bit and they used to also do joint presentations afterwards when playing the likes of Robinvale who got the bus in to town at 4:45 after the games finished. Those joint presos were the best joint initiative to this day I’ve seen at any footy club as the players and supporters all hung around. The kitchen opened up early and the hosting clubs absolutely cleaned up with bar and food takings. The mates you make from those events at other clubs was also something else.

On a different note, the Red Cliffs footy oval is great to play cricket on

Maybe the 3 extra rounds at the end of the year can be split North / South.
That will leave only 4 games of long travel all year for all clubs before finals. That's bugger all really.

With the new Northern Connector and Southern Expressway travelling North/South is a piece of piss. The issue lies when you start venturing further East of that line. Hackham to Houghton last year would be an absolute prick of a journey with the Saturday local sports traffic - Probably better off doing it through the hills…

Trying to recruit last year people whinged about the travel - but when you break it down, it’s not even that bad.

Mitchell Park isn’t far.
OSB Lonsdale is easy up the expressway
Flinders Park not much further than MP
Hackham a little trek but not that bad.

Reality is though, you only make each trip once.. maybe twice depending on ladder positions.

Para Hills, Mawson Lakes, Brahma all within 10min of each other.

Smithfield is the odd one out really haha.

I’m not complaining, it doesn’t affect me at all, I never minded travelling, it was cheaper drinking drive thru beers for the journey home.

I just can’t blame the players if people are silly enough to pay it, I’m not sure how works in Adelaide but I even had blokes messaging looking for a couple hundred a game to play in our b grade side. That would be deal of a century for a footballer.

Different clubs in different positions so I can understand clubs that do it but you won’t see us doing the handshake photo thing in Facebook, if a player needs that to come play for us gtfo. Haha. Plus we only have a total of 5 points that are being used anyway so can’t really recruit haha

My motto is if you come to me offering your services for x amount you’re also going to do that even if we sign you so it’s a pass from me.

Do players actively shop themselves? I assumed it was the other way, not that I've been involved with clubs for a long while.

Mate of mine, his lad will get half a dozen messages each off season from various clubs. I assumed this was the norm!

Some do.

some of the stories and the message threads between player and club make you pull your hair out though.
