I think its a great decision by the SAAFL, this wasn't an isolated incident from this club as their rap sheet shows.

The Amateur Soccer League did this a couple of years ago to a couple of clubs who continued to have serious issues and the league has never been better!!

Its a courageous decision but a right on imho.

Yeah they probably got it right, me for one just feel for the really good people at Rosie's, especially Mr Beefy, I've seen first hand how hard they all work to keep it together. Unfortunately sometimes you just have to clear the bad ones out but I don't think anyone at Rosewater could have seen this one coming.

Was anyone there?

What incident(s) led up to the umpire hit?

Was it a rough game? Were other players sent off?

The player had been sent off - why? Presumably he then disagreed with the decision. Verbal abuse too? Did the incident occur on the field or over near the interchange race?

Is he a highly regarded umpire or is there a history between him and the player/club?

Sad news for Rosies who have been a tough rival for us over the years but totally agree that the league needs to take a tough stance on this type of thing and send a message to all clubs to take responsibility for the people that wear their Guernsey. I'm sure Rosies will be back, they're a proud club.

Whilst I get your point, No answer to any of the above questions should condone the outcome of what happened to the umpire. Unfortunately

Agreed

Tony (and anyone else I guess), what do you make of the fact that it happened 5 mins into the first quarter?

Bollocks !!!!!
You do realise that the SAASL have allowed the same teams in under different names

You do relies the same teams have committed similar offences this year

Making and breaking our own rules FC?

1) The specifics of the actual incidents will not be discussed

2) We will also beat with a banstick, anyone who wasn't witness to the event speculating, or reporting any hearsay of the actual incident.

Confirmed!!!! Player suspended for 20 years

Which means he can have no official involvement or hold any position in any football club Australia wide

Good. Umpires are sacrosanct and need to know they're completely protected

As a moderator, you may want to disseminate the actual tribunal findings before adding part facts. A speculative comment including "5 mins in" is what you had your stick out about - right?

Its a more complex situation in the SAASL because of barriers with things such as ID's, use of correct names etc but as a rule each time a team has tried to come back they have had less and less issues and the trouble makers have been quicked out easier.

If the offense im thinking of from this year is the one you mean it was from a team that players from the same nationality but were not even of the same religion as the team that was expelled.

Having played against many of the teams that have been kicked out the SAASL is a billion times safer league than it was 3 years ago when they were having crowd violence and on field violence on a weekly basis.

I'd say everyone at HQ has had a fairly long day as it is, I wouldn't expect anything official until tomorrow
