one last comment... at the end of the game i witnessed portland supporters threatening the umpires and then abusing the TTG players as they came off. firstly the umpires made some terrible decisions both ways but i think portland got the better of them. secondly why be sore losers and abuse the opposition after the game. it was a great game of football to watch so just be happy you were there to see it. maybe instead of abusing other ppl they could have been applauding their own team for a hard effort

no excuse for that stuff, its not on. as for your thoughts on the game, it is interesting to see what an outsider thinks, you stated that we are a very skilled side which is interesting as i have never heard us called that before. all three goals you talked about in the 3rd quarter were from skill errors leaving our defensive 50.
Griffiths for TTG is an absolute monster of a man would have to be close to 7 foot, number 10 was there best player imo Harding i think the name was and there full forward kicked a bag with no Draper to contend with.

Why didn't Draper play ths week?

Heard there was a nasty neck injury suffered to a young TTG player on saturday? Believe he has suffered some vertebrae damage after hitting his head on the ground when tacked.... tried walking off the oval and collapsed? hopefully he makes a full recovery

If that is the case that is horrible news and we wish him all the best and a speedy recovery, we hadnt even realised the Lad had injured himself till the Ambulance drove out on the ground at half time.

Hi Gents,

Can confirm the lad you talk of is trent meville , but hate to let facts get in the way of a good yarn , trent is fine , just suffered a concussion but apart from that he is fine and wont be missing any footy.

So any Truth to the rumour about former Portland captain david bird returning from Henley. Had been in good form for the sharks in the midfield. Any news why he wants back in at the thunder dome??
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Must be true because there is a clearance in for that, only spoke to one of his close family members two weeks ago and he said he was very happy at Henly. Not sure what has changed? but will be a good pick up for Portland to get Birdy back.

True, but will Henley clear him? I've heard they don't want to and may make it difficult for him, which will be disappointing, cos I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been paid to sign on at Henley...
Apparently no resentment towards Henley, but not the place for him. He knows everyone at Portland and I hope he does well for them and can reinvigorate their season. Would have been the easy option to stay at Henley and most likely play off in a D1 GF, but has returned to play with his mates, and try to help them stay in the top 5.

Andrew 'Dubya Tre' Dickenson is not happy with Bird's return, as he will be demoted back to the half forward flank.

What of Flinders Park's young and in form on-baller Nic Schwarz? Ron Fuller approached him prior to Rd 8 asking him to train and play at South Adelaide in the bye week... He did play, I'm not sure how he went, but will be interesting to see if he stays or goes...Would hurt for the Parkers if he left as they attempt to escape relegation.

I know Portland didn't hold up his clearance to Henley you'd expect the same in return from Henley.
Obviously Birdy's a little homesick, what do they say you can take the boy out of Portland but you can't take Portland out of the boy.

Birdy has been like a little boy in a toy store at henley. He's been bouncin around full of excitement, has been outstanding on the track and the boys hav really made an effort to take him and feel comfortable so far in the season but also right thru the summer

Obviously a conflict has occurred or something and he has decided best not to stay. Geexe. If this is the case the club has the utmost common sense to do the right thing by a guy, not chain him to stay and force him to play geeze. Unless theres some kind of debt im sure itll clear cos were not like that at henley geeze why else wouldnt u stay with the current top div 1 side were your getting games derr

Dave has put in for a clearance back to portland. Hopefully he will be cleared and ready to play against Modbury this week.
As for reasons for leaving it was nothing to do with how henley treated him. From all reports he was welcomed very well and all the boys got behind him including the coach.
There wasnt a conflict or if there was he hasnt mentioned it to me, Dave simply missed playing with some of his best mates and at a club he had been at since he was a young boy.
All I know is we are very glad to have him back in the black, teal and white!!
get on board the thunder train!!!

The rumour i heard as to why he was leaving the sharks was he didnt wear a leather jacket, his thighs were to meaty to fit in to a set of skinny jeans and he does not have a massive fringe that sweeps from one side of his head to the other, so was outcasted by the rest of the club and shown the door ;)
