Getting 40 in five games isn't necessarily going to get u a medal or rate u higher.....eg Molyineux the year Pres won a medal.... maybe those making selections are being more circumspect..... ;)

yeh I get that 40 touches doesn't mean 3 votes. Its what u do with them but castree breaks lines with run and long kicking, tackles hard and kicks goals.
Did u get a chance to watch gg this year?

Well it probably does. I wouldn't think there are to many players getting around div 4 who can get 40 touches during games, so more often then not their gonna be one of the best players. This just proves that umpires shouldn't do the voting.

I tend to agree. I wouldnt mind seeing a coaches award or similar. I understand the coaches are busy already but they actually might enjoy doing it.

Exactly much the same as how they do it in the afl, eg. Each coaching group could vote 3 2 1. That way 6 maximum votes could be gathers in a game. I bet if some sort of system was in place like this castree and molineux would both be clear winners as they probably deserved.

The problem with this as an award is they can throw any names in to manipulate it. Some dont put their best players in there all the time and sometimes its used as a confidence thing.

Absolutely correct.....have been told as much and in a couple of cases last year it was patently obvious....

Then coaches should have to vote on teams and not just their own team same as umpires and add up at the end of the year , pretty simple stuff.

On that premise Gepps Cross wouldn't have got a vote.......and its not because their "best" wouldn't have deserved votes, but a perfect way to "piss" a certain someone off for being a major tool....... ;) A huge can of worms that just wouldn't work......IMO.

So Stengle let's say racks up 40 touches and kicks 4 goals, his team wins by 10 goals your saying opposition coaches wouldn't give him or his team mates any votes because they want to stick it to the man, I doubt it.

There was a touch of "tongue in cheek" in my comment Swingman... ie the 'winkie'......But as you raise the point in more seriousness you cannot categorically state that it would be uniformly otherwise. Whilst not everyone has an axe to grind, don't kid yourself that its all Marquis of Queensbury Rules across the board either by individuals or Clubs as a whole within SAAFL.....again IMO.

At the end of the first quarter Westies had only kicked two behinds, they were 34 points down. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought it was all over and done with. Not sure what happened, Salisbury West flicked the switch on in the second, and kicked 17 goals to 3 from then on. Great game to watch, if you were a westies supporter :D

Since it's close to the 1 year anniversary any Woodville South posters care to let me know if we will ever get a copy of the Div 5 Reserve Grand Final? Since we paid for it and John no longer returns our calls just wondering if any of you have a copy of it.
