Basically 'abusing' and 'bagging' each other and teams, beyond your 'friendly rivalry'.
Multiple identities.
Posting total crap and breaking forum rules.

Of course there were the genuine posters and unfortunately as always some mess it up for others.

Mudlarks nurturing the youngsters
FOOTBALL: There is always
excitement and a deep love for sport,
especially football at the
Myponga/Sellicks Football Club and
2009 is no different with the astute,
vibrant and positive Ben Princi at the
helm once again.
The coach learnt a lot in his first
year and will continue to blood
youngsters to nurture the football
club’s future and so far in 2009 the
club has had 50 players on the track.
“Juniors at the club will get a go if
they are good enough, but we must
learn to finish games off and play four
quarters.
“We are working on moving the ball
quicker and our decision making,”
Princi said.
Shane Magor is president and gives
his coach 100 per cent support for all
on-field matters, while the club
undertakes an exciting project.
The Myponga/Sellicks Sporting
Club is to be redeveloped and relocated
to a more central location around
the oval.
The club has lost key players Shane
Sterzl, Michael Tomlinson and Wade
Hutchinson to Jervois and Randall
Lindsay, but the up-beat Princi is
focusing on the young talent at the
club and the quality ins of Dylan
Marriott from Flagstaff Hill, Tom
Renzi, Dave Jeffries, Chris Little and
Chris Hoppo.
“We are very young and have lost
some experience and class, but that
will be replaced with youth and
enthusiasm.
“Damien Smith and Shaun
Hutchinson will be great leaders
again for the club and good role models
for the juniors at the club on how
to play the game,” Princi said.
Myponga/Sellicks has a camp on
March 14 and trial games against
Plympton on March 21 and Lonsdale
on March 28, both at Myponga.
Major sponsors are the Victory
Hotel and Fleurieu Stock Feed.

Q&A ...........with A Grade coach Ben Princi

Magpies reborn for season 2009
FOOTBALL: The Goolwa/Port
Elliot Football Club has shed the
Saints tag and is now the Magpies
in season 2009, wearing the
famous black and white prison
bars jumper that is feared in all
leagues in South Australia.
It does not stop there at the club
with a new president in Brett
Pedler and a new A grade coach in
Simon Dennis.
Although the club has won the
past two wooden spoons, the club
has done everything possible to
improve itself off the field and on
it.
There is a breath of fresh air at
the Goolwa/Port Elliot Football
Club with Simon Dennis making
an immediate impact in the community
by making the players
more aware of the heritage and
tradition of the football club.
“I want us to be more a part of
the community and be proactive
in raising issues of importance
that affects the community such
as the plight of the river.
“It is the backbone of the community
and every home game we
will wear red arm bands to show
our concern of the river.
“I want the players to be aware
of how important it is to represent
a community, as it is a privilege to
wear the black and white
guernsey in 2009 not a right,”
Dennis said.
The club has a training camp
this weekend at the Coorong, has
trained on the banks of the river
where there was once water and
with the red arm bands are making
exorbitant steps to send a
clear message that the Goolwa/
Port Elliot Football Club is
responsible and cares not only
about getting a kick on a
Saturday, but about the environmental
and economic issues that
surround it.
Picking up Zac Ewer from
Jervois and Stephen White from
Darwin will improve the personnel
of the team and gives them a
gifted onballer and a great target
up forward.
The club is strong in sponsor
support with Middleton Tavern,
Caltex, Fielders and Ballast Stone
Estate Winery the major sponsors.
One thing looks certain in 2009,
Goolwa/Port Elliot Magpies will
not win their third successive
wooden spoon and they will climb
up the ladder.
Trial games are against Aldinga
on March 28 at Goolwa followed
by jumper presentation night and
an internal trial on March 21.

Q&A ........................................................................ wiitth A Grrade coach Siimon Denniis

Team to beat in 2009?

is up there.

and should not be

Griffen has lost some
weight and completed
a good preseason
and looks fired up for
a big year.

New paint job on the outside dosn't mean the Car will run any better,
Stil the same old Goolwa, they has lost alot more players than they have gained,
Simon Dennis is an ex Encounter Bay Boy (Great Bloke) and as like Popey
the last 2 years very hard to turn a Sows Ear into a Prized Purse.

Spot on with the youngster to watch, Chicko looks awesome he has always had the ability and skills just was down on fitness. Seeing him on the track just a few times this pre season he is primed for a big season and in my opinion is more than capable of dominating and will prove a head ache and very hard to man up on!

At this stage they have lost more players as read in the article, but only on paper. Ewer and White coming in easily cover Adam Wilson, John Jarred and Andrew Pudney (only played about 4 games). Sam Jones is likely to return to GPE and with all the young players with 2-3 years experience in A-grade and another pre-season under their belt and a couple of quality senior colts coming through, they shoud help the maggies become more competitive and win a few more games at worst. Not to mention the numbers the B-grade look like having, the club is very healthy.

Trent Griffen definately the one to watch! Looks in amazing shape and i expect nothing less than chiko dominating week in week out with Yeoy and Ewer.

So with Sam Jones returning to Goolwa their midfield seems strong with Jones, Griffen, Ewer and Yeomans. That should be able to match it with most midfields in the comp! Hows the depth though? Always been a problem. Dennis suring up CHB and White at CHF/FF gives the side a strong spine. Should see a more competitive Magpie outfit this season!

I believe there are more than that from last year missing! Even Popey played
some A-Grade in 2008 even thou he was retired, still another number to replace.
I hope the Old Port Elliot comes good, I played in there last A-Grade Final team
in 2000 with legends like Steve Hann, Nev Whenham & Dave Whitborne.
The year prior to the merge with Goolwa!
P.S. The black & white prison bars Jumper suit Goolwa better!

So signman played in the last game with Elliot with some so called 'legends' who along with himself never put their hand up to assist with the new entity back in 2001 and now gets on an internet forum to bag a club that is actually working quite hard in both the Port Elliot and Goolwa communities to turn things around. Thats not at all helpful. If your an ex Port Elliot person signman why dont you jump on board?

I agree the prison bars suit Goolwa better, and are even more relevant to the GPEFC than the Saints outfit was. But as LF has stated, you are one of many that left YOUR club when the merger happened and headed to an opposition club, making it extremely hard to keep the Port Elliot identity involved as there was very few players that actually went from playing for the bloods to playing for the then Saints.
