All good points and i must stress that our club is certainly not complaining. We have a new president with a strong committee, sponsorship will be up on last year and we are looking at some captial works (eg the new visitors changerroms which are near completetion). We have a good junior program and some talented locals, so we are clearly working with the points system. My point is that there are clubs with borderline points issues that should have common sense prevail so that they too can develop, especially those clubs who have lost a few 0 point players. A complete overhaul IS NOT needed but some slight adjustments will be benfeicial for all clubs and ultimately the league in general.

End discussion on the points system?

Come on ladies, how many times does BJ have to tell you Wilunga dont pay players. They just play for the love of the game
On a serious note congrats to my good mates Carnaz & Ness on the healthy arrival of another footballer, little Dion.

WoW im not saying players dont get paid. Does it make everyone feel good to blindly guess what our players are getting paid?? I think worrying about your own nest would be where i looked first. Im telling you noone gets over $200 a game and as far as i know, noone gets that figure either. In the end, and i say this a fair bit, if clubs want to pay money then good on them, if it improves the standard of the comp and attracts some interest then great.

I will say this tho, recruiting guys that are getting old and wont be at the club in 3-5 years i dont believe to be the way to go. The points system is their to encourage guys to stay around, if the players you recruit are only good for 1-2 years of footy then you will never get the full reward (playing wise) from them.

How do you know what other players are on BJ?
I'm not trying to suggest what Willunga pays their players, it's just that I've never known what any of my team mates are on. I always assumed only the treasurer, president and coach would know.

If BJ wouldn't know how much players are on, then how can anyone else be saying that they know for a "FACT"...... quit talking garbage

That's exactly the point I was making. Only the player and a few officials would (or should) ever know what the real figure is. Get a brain Mr Goodkat

Back of this weeks sportsbeat - Barry Clark!

Barry Clark 560 game veteran Myponga Mudarks.

He's already been dobbed in as a local legend and won a carton of Coopers Premium Light (awesome  ). He's been interview by KG and Cornesy. All that means Barry Clark is a local legend and qualifies forthe big one, a 'legendary' sporting holiday for two worth $8000, with Bazza's coice of attending 1 of 5 major sporting events - includingairfaes, accommodation, transfers and tickets.

Well done Mr. Clark =D>

now this is what FOOTY is all about! a genuine great bloke! i don't think (i can't be 100% certain) there has ever been a time with the terms B. Clarke and Player payments have been put in the same sentence. Appart from being a great bloke off the field he's also one on the field! even though he plays footy as hard as any player i've seen/played against!

B. Clarke all the best mate... let's hope this league sees plenty more of your calibre!! the league really needs blokes like him! the other champion in the league is the great S. 'Plough' Michelmore from langhorne creek... another true champion who suffers badly from white line fever! great blokes ... great sport we have!

Its a pity that football wasnt that important to Gowling. Saw him and John Copping go head to head in a game which became a match in its self, both kicked 4-5 goals each from a wing  . Also saw him stand Bully for a half in a final (1998 GF?), Bully had 9 (i think) to half time, Gowling went on to him & he didnt kick a goal after that.

The hype surrounding Shane Fox's much anticapated return to the GSFL has taken another interesting twist.
Rumoured to be attending Goolwa training tuesday night for a look, not a promise to play, but one step closer to making a final decision on his playing future. A big coup for Goolwa if they can get his signature. Does that mean Brad 'Aggi' Thompson's signature is about to be put to paper for the Magpies too?
