I said Goolwa and Jervois were two of the highest, not the highest. They would be in the top 10% wouldn't they?

And for the record, I would love to see Ewer do good things for Goolwa. But to build a club you need to get more than a couple of years out these recruits. We've seen a lot of guys come and go from the GSFL in recent years.

Your assuming he is going to leave after a year!
He might enjoy it? He might hate the fact that there gonna get pumped? Who knows, just wait and see..

I cant wait to see what happens against victor.. if all reports are correct about them claiming to not need any more on ballers..
Zac will rip them apart! BOG and 4 from the middle..

Grape, Jervois would be paying a very similar amount to your club. Yes willunga players could get alot more else where but when your paying 10-12 players + incentives it adds up.
And so what if Zac has gone there 4 the money, if someone wants to pay him big $ then hes silly not to take it. In saying that a fresh start 4 Zac at goolwa will be the challenge he needs & will thrive on. He'll have a good year

was talking to a few goolwa lads in the early hours of sunday morning after i was locked out of the crown, bloody bouncers. They were telling me that goolwa managed to get $100,000 of funds as a gift to spend on players and developments around the club. They were talking about some old bloke but were a bit vague on it, is this true LF did you blokes get a heap of coin?

on another note, looking foward to acctually being able to have a shower when we play at goolwa this season.

$100,000!!!! That would explain why I am getting 10k to coach the juniors. in all seriousness i think that is an urban myth! The changerooms will be good, its a blank canvas as we speak the plumber will be over the next week to install 5 new showers, then a fresh paint, new benches etc.

Im in agreeance with you Dutchman. I too hold it in good authority that Ewer has and will remain strong mates with the fellas at Jervois. The move to Goolwa will be good for both him and Goolwa.

Give him a bit more credit Ape - his track record of 4 years at Jervois showed that he's willing to stick around for more than one season! I suggest you stick to what you're good at Ape - cutting and pasting!

Is Thompson a good chance of training with Goolwa tomorrow night?

I think Goolwa will be strong this year, after a solid year in '08 that consisted of some tight losses, new coach + a few big recruits they will be right up there vying for a finals berth.
As usual they lack some depth, they just need an extra 2 or 3 players of quality to step in & secure a good all-around squad.

Teamwork,Thompson is one of those players Goolwa realy needs to look at acquiring.

hey guys,

i was just wondering, and i'm sorry if this brings up some painful memories for some demons, but before their impressive run of 5 straight, how many GF's did willunga lose?

when i first moved down here, i can remember that it was a bit of a running joke that willunga were chokers and would never win a flag.

not havin a dig, as i would be stupid to do such a thing. i asked my boss, and he said he thinks they made 3 straight GF's before they won in their 4th apperance.but he wasnt sure. can anyone tell me?

and if it wasnt 3 straight losing GF's, what was it? i mean, did they make 3 in 4 years or something like that? and my boss also thinks that for a couple of these seasons, they were, or close to, undefeated.

cheers guys.

once again, sorry if this rubs salt into some wounds.

Spotted Thompson putting a few sherbets back down the bay sunday arvo, with good mate Leigh Hirst.
Hirsty looked like he had pen & paper set up & ready for Thompson to sign on the dotted line.

He won't be a star, but when he does get the ball he'll use it precisely, and as a 0 pt player goolwa would be crazy not to pursue him, considering he knows a lot of the local boys down there.
If he stays fit he can give goolwa some depth, but is really an unkown quality after so long out of the game.

Good to hear Toddy Dellatorre will be returning to the Creek in a couple of weeks time after a few months working over in Warrnambool.

Great news for the creeks. Toddy is a super player and a damaging half back with that precise left foot kick of his!!!

Any news on Nick Warren and a teaching post in the country?

Was having a chat with one of Zac's old mates on the weekend in NADS and reckons Zac was excited and keen to make an impression in the GSFL. His old man has a place down at Goolwa so it should work out well for him. Also found out that Thompson use to play for Willunga and hasnt played since senior colts where he struggled to make the 21, so he may be a 0 point player but whats the point if he isnt even going to make ya Reserves side each week. May have to recruit him as a waterboy at best.
