We definately would have been involved, but the letters came out in late December when we had well and truly organised our event but good luck fighting it out for the $200!! You might have a few horse trainers quite upset, I think thats more than most of the race prize pools.

Sounds like a handy duo BJ. Lets hope young Matt doesn't stiff me on the punt like his brother has 2 weeks in a row.

and on another subject, teamwork, i think you need to change your forum name to something else cause teamwork doesnt fit the bill. iya have flat tires mate just change them and drive up the road to victor im sure they will pay for the repairs, cause goolwa wont pump them up anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) pride not payment !

Thats all a good point LF! The thing is if I go by your theory apart from not playing at victor as a Jnr I went to school with all the Victor guys and they are the mates I train with and hang out with 6 days out of 7 so this talk about pumping up tyres is rubbish, if you actually spoke to someone from Goolwa or Victor you would know that I dont even want to speak about it to anyone apart from mates.
Id reckon thats a bit of a slap in the face to the Goolwa lads you also went to school with and hang out with in Goolwa . Goolwa,Strath,Goolwa talk of Langhornes last year,Victor this year whos next.???

Talk of Creeks last season was others speculating. I was coaching at Goolwa as you know and was never going to leave that. I see how it could be a slap in the face to some lads but is it a slap in the face to the others you have grown up with and hang out with more than anyother group to never play a game of football along side them only against them?
As for who's next thats crap! As LF will tell you from our conversations Victor is just something I am looking at and if I choose not to play for Victor Goolwa it will be, I am sure I will be happy at either club. The main reason for change now is based on the points system I am looking to have a good season of footy and with the current points system I am a 0 point player at any club, if I am to play with mates at Victor at some point now seems like a good time to move based only on points value.

So you should have made a decision by June or July? Or will you keep dithering to remain the centre of attention?

so no one acctually answered my question. how strong is a contract, if i was to sign a contract at goolwa and then go and play for the bays, how does that contract work, what power does the club that i orginally signed the contract at.

It seems silly if infact a player can sign somewhere and then be offered something by another club and then go sign there and nothing happens? Anyone got any idea, a contract is a contract i would say, its a legal document.

Hey cuzz, As far as i know contracts can be upheld if the right information is involved within them!! EG: SANFL contracts can be copied & changed to suit your club.
Having said this, I am of the opinion that if you have signed a bloke & he signs elsewhere for more cash, then he's probably the sort of person u dont want at your club, so let him go!!!
Blokes with strong characters wont do this. Ofcourse there are always exceptions to the rule but mostly this is the case

This is all 'pie in the sky' stuff. Until we have all the facts its hard to judge. If want to get extremely technical, I think the Bays should have provided ferg with a copy of what he signed (probably with 24 or 48 hours). This to my knowledge has not been done. I have heard 100's of stories in football circles of people signing contracts and not meeting the conditions. In fact just last year, a SFL league player signed with us and played back with Port Noarlunga. By the letter of the law a contract is a contract, but I cant see local clubs paying out big $$$ to go down the leagl path. In this case if it does eventuate, the player in question is not leaving for more money, he would be leaving to play at his 'home' club (a club that did not encourage to return, but who would be happy to see him back). I hope common sense will prevail

Generally, contracts don't mean anything unless you are prepared to take someone to court (or the league) to enforce it. And what country player is worth that? If a guy doesn't want to play somewhere there's not much point hanging on to him. The best any club could achieve is stopping someone from playing elsewhere.

Realistically the contract gives a club the ability to refuse a clearance. So a contract by itself is worthless but if you sign a contract and are cleared to Goolwa, Goolwa could refuse to clear you back to the bays.

I'd prefer not to mention that on here, but let me assure you that it is not very much at all... Enough to get your night started is about it...

I have been led to believe that MV's 'base' is in the vicinity of $50 per game.

I also heard a rumour that Langhorne Creek was paying B graders $20 per game. Is that true?

Not quite right GA.. LC B graders get a $10 voucher to use at the bar or canteen if they win.. not much but it keeps everyone around for a drink.

that cant be right emus base payment 8 or 9 years ago was 45 a win youd have to think that inflation and holding the premiership team together away from dollars would have pushed it up. i heard also that port noarlunga about 3 years ago had player payments of 36k for the season before and my source i dont believe would have it incorrect

Player payments at MV have never been $45, so a little incorrect there... Our payments are less than that... I received more per game (base payment) for playing in the mid 90's than the present base payment..!!

Russell Tucker is moving to Whyalla as his girlfriend teaches up there.

M Fenoughty is an in for McLaren and should add some class to their midfield. A Hockey is an out but is no loss really.

G Bailey may be looking at Min/Man as he has a few mates playing up there.
