If so he would be a fair player. Doubt there would be many (if any) better standard country leagues in SA that would match the Sunraysia Football League.

yeh, i'm pretty sure he played at least one year for Merbein, (my old local team!) and he went alright.

not many people believe me when i tell them that the Sunraysia FL goes alright!

The Sunraysia FL would surprise many. Year in/ year out they towel up the Western Border League in inter association matches and theres a large portion of the SAFOOTY posters that beleive that Western Border League is the best league outside of SAAFL div 1 in SA. Ive seen 2 games up there and the skill level and intensity at the contest is very good and the physical aspect is second to none in any league I have seen. I beleive it's a better standard than the SFL,GSFL,Hills and Western Border. People disagree are just arrogant because I guarentee you they have not seen a game. Anybody who I have spoken to that has seen a game up there will totally agree with me.

yeh,i agree totally. i'd say the top couple of clubs from SFL and GSFL (the leagues i've watched the most) would fit in with the top 4 or 5 in Suny FL.

a lot of people just dont realise how big the Mildura and surronding areas are, and just judge that because it's a "small country town", they would assume the footy isnt up to scratch.

people dont realise that Sunraysia has a population of well over 70,000. being made up of Mildura, Red Cliffs, Irymple, Merbein, Wentworth*, Euston*, Gol Gol*, Buronga*, Robinvale*, and a whole heap more smaller towns within an hour of Mildura.

* Denotes towns that are actually "interstate", but are still classed as "Sunraysia", due to being situated right on the Vic-NSW border.

Maybe the current player with the greatest record but I'd doubt he's the GSFL's best ever player.

its a hard thing to judge, might need to see what the yetti thinks hes seen a bit of gsfl, definitely one of the most consistent players going round, but he still looks a bit like strauhnie (as per jeloms look a likes)

More premierships & way more more mail medal votes over the last 10 years than anyone. How else can you objectively rate a footballer?

To be honest I never saw Kym Smith play. Can you give a run down of his achievements?

Won 2 or 3 mail medals and quite a few premierships, State Country side i think, played for Sturt in 1980 as well.

I wasn't actually saying Baxter couldn't play or is not one of the best in the GSFL at the moment, i was saying i'm not sure he's the best "ever" player to play in the comp.

Well considering Mildura is bigger than any country town in SA would give you a fair idea of it's size. You fail to mention that Renmark,Berri and Loxton and Broken Hill are not to far away aswell and a fair portion of players come from those towns aswell because the money in Sunraysia is far better. I recomend anyone to watch a game up there because it is good viewing. Merbein are the magpies arent they? been past there once I reckon and the clubrooms are on the hill on the forward pockett??
