Cuzzy, have heard a few of the Victor boys mention robinsons name as a possibility of playing with the roos in 09

Not sure about Slug Cuzzy. Robinson is living with Neil in Victor and last season Neil wanted to go to Victor so you may see Shane and Neil at Victor in 09, that the first I have heard Robinson mentioned with the bays but.

Would be a shame to see another 2 locals walk out on the Maggies, Slug will definately not leave Goolwa especially now they are the pies again. It would suprise me if robbo left but he is real good friends with alot of Victor and Bays players.

A forward line consisting of Rigney, Dennis, Hargraves with Evans and Cuthbert would be handy. We have 14 points, minus Wilson who is now 2, so thats 12 to play with. The 3 players mentioned would attract 10, leaving 2 points to spare.

Saints looking handy. When will those 3 put pen to paper? What is Hargreaves connection to Goolwa?
Lucky big L. Hirst is putting in the hard yards fitness-wise pre-season otherwise he might need to find a role down back/ruck, word has it he is bringing "Aggie" Thompson down to Goolwa too (0 point player, has great skills when fit). He ran 3km time trial in 12.05 and is hunting for a midfield berth with Shane Fox & co. Could be some new faces down there.

maybe teamwork could shed some light on where the great S. Fox is going to play next year.

You seem to know alot about me in the past HT maybe you can inform me of my dealings and movements!

Robinson will play at Goolwa, couldn't possibly miss a season as he would be disqualified from footy trips. That alone is a big enough incentive.

Would the Saints have reverted to the Magpies if they'd won a flag in the last few years?

You'd be spewing if you'd got yourself a 'Saints' Tat.

Daniel hargraves nearly a done deal at Goolwa..!! I'm not totally up with this points system so how many points will Hargraves, Ewer and Rigney attract..?? How many do Goolwa have to spend..??

Not sure where you get your info from but Hargraves playing at Nhill along with Chris & Andy Ladhams for around $1200 a game. Can't see him at Goolwa for half that, sorry boys!

$1200 at Nhill = $3.30 per km travelled or
$600 at Goolwa = $8.00 per km travelled

Paul "forrest" Sherwood would be the best single pick up this entire off season!!!!

Not just because he would be one of the best players the comp has seen, but because he is as good off the field. Quality bloke, would be great for the comp.

Carn the Creeks!!!!

Side note : would not want to miss the match up of Baxter v Moore if Benny was to venture down to Hawk park aswell....

have they signed them tho mex or is it just looking like this is what will happen
The Mexican wrote:Got that mail aswell BJ, heard it was the FLYS he was out training with last week... and if what you say is true about him playing 1 more year, it seems fitting that he might go BACK HOME to play his last year of footy....

Big pick up if this eventuates!

:ympray:
Mate, it seems as though it is true. Big Matty J was out at training last Thursday and said that he wasn't going to play at all but always said he would play his final year at Reynella. So my guess is he is either going to retire altogether or play one more year at Reynella. So luckily for you and your thighs, you won't have to face him again! He was a mongrel to ruck against!
Interesting to hear that Ox is having a run at Reynella. He played the last part of 2008 with a torn ACL so I got the impression that he was either going to give it away or have one more year at the Creek. Hopefully he's got one more year left in him and he'll spend it in the brown and gold jumper.
Their recent signings might be enough to keep him at Creeks..??
LF after speaking to some old sponsers and supporters the change back to the black and white has been very popular, the old jail bars jumper even more so!! Any chance of pen on paper before X-mas its getting to the time you want to secure all big players I would think.

Recently retired former North Adelaide player Daniel Wicks has been rumoured to be in talks with South coast clubs. Sounds about right as he loves his surfing. Goolwa in the front running. Would be a handy pick-up, and said to a great bloke around the club with a wealth of knowledge of all aspects of the game. Not asking for a whole lot of $$$ either, just wants to have a kick and assist in developing a young side.

If true would be a great get for the Magpies, could a ex North player be seen in black and white though?

So they could potentially add Wicks, Hargreaves, Ewer and Rigney! Geez rumours must have been right about the new sponsor as they obviously have a lot of cash flying around!!! When you hear figures that some of which are 4 figures per game, I am just blown away...aren't we on the brink of a recession??? Isn't the wine industry struggling??? I hope Langhorne Creek aren't getting too far ahead of themselves here...

Most of these rumours are excatly that and are being instigated by people outside the club. Daniel Wicks has almost certainly signed at TTG in the amatuers (would love his services though). As for $$$ being thrown around, it is no different from any other year, however now that under the points system less players can be recruited more $$$ are going to individuals.

Example

Old System (budget $35,000) = 8 players @ $250 per game (approximates)
New System (budget $35,000) = 4 players @ $500 per game (approximates)

So if clubs maintain the budget they spent prior to the points system coming in then it would appear that more has ben spent where has in fact this is false.

Only some recent births LF.

Myponga have found some time between milkings to produce another 7 Hutchinsons.
McLaren have been blessed with the drought killing the vinyards a they have been able to work hard on popping out another 4 Petrucci's.
Compass have artificially inseminated a few fair dinkum sheilas and backed out another couple of East's.

Maybe if the team started with a clean plate every year it would be like that LF, but most times it wouldn't be. For example, if 7 of those 8 players decided to stay, 2 may take pay cuts but the other 5 ask for the same if not more this season, then you go and add 4 more players at $500 a game, you are well above your $35,000 budget. And what happens next year? If those 4 guys stay on are you going to add another 4 at $750 a game??? Plus, I wasn't really point the finger at Goolwa solely...
