Did hear that a few more of Jons mates were moving to Strath in 09 from Happy Valley to have a kick so i think he'll stay.

Myponga apparently have signed 2 -3 already, not sure of names.
Ben Thorn to play for Yank in 09.
Is Matt Thomas staying at willunga??

Ben Thorn to Yank? Whats the reasoning behind that?

Matt Thomas is staying at Willunga. There was some uncertainty after his disappointing season through injury but has seen the light and decided to stay put.

I hear Zac Ewer and Trevor Rigney of Jervois have teamed up with Sam Joraslafsky and Wayne Pitman of the Emus and have had discussions with Goolwa and possibly Victor....can anyone shed some light on this? Would Goolwa be in for a better position on the ladder in 09 with this foursome?!?!

Not too sure... I assume that group will want decent payment. How does Goolwa usually stand financially?

Usually, they probably couldn't afford them all. I'm sure with a new sponsorhsip deal for 2009 they will easily afford them if that is the way they decide to go.

Would we be higher on the ladder in 09 with those 4? We couldn't go any lower!!!!! We have such good youngsters but we need an early confidence boost to get out of the doldrums. I think if we got a couple of wins early confidence would be sky high, remembering that we lost 6 games by 20 points or less last year. If you convert those to wins its a different story. There is no salary cap anymore, so money will not be the issue, but its all about the points.

As LF said, even if money is not a issue with the points system you can only add 4 or 5 new players to the list then hope they dont get injured and your local stock can step up then you may see a lift, can the right 4 or 5 players put you into finals?

Add 2 David Hams's and 3 Mitch Portlocks to any current GSFL list and they would play finals.

That would be 15 points....That club would have to play an U/17 every week
Would not like to see Mitch Portlock by 3
They would struggle to fit in the centre square together....sorry Mitch

:-c $-) $-) We played without a ruckman last year so it would be good to have one in 09, even if it was only for 5 games

I am very interested to see how victor will go next year. Talk is most players are coming back but have heard if the offer is right some of there better players are on the move. Meet the coach day a while back was a good turn out, but some may have been testing the waters. Hopefully things continue on the up for the mighty roos.

in light of one a williamson leaving willunga, rumor has it jimmy toone is may also be looking to see if the grass is greener on another side. i believe these two are just trying to assess their market value... are these two really worth anything more than the base payments they would be on at willunga...
