This forum is going downhill quickly. Too many knob heads using several user names. In serious news I have now heard (from 3 different people) that Jon Eagleton is on the move to Hahndorf. Any truth to this?

That is big news, top line player in the comp and in my opinion would be one of if not the hardest players to contain and would rip a huge hole in the Strathalbyn midfield. Would Nisbett and co leave aswell as they all arrived at the same time!

Have Goolwa signed those 4 players yet LF?

Eagleton is 2nd and 3rd hand rumour so it might be off the mark. Dont reckon we have signed anyone at this stage.

LF
Downhill
WE all know it is silly season and such there are some silly posts.
The number of rumours going around as well as the players trying to talk up their value helps devalue the forum to a degree, however it is still not bad reading.
Come on the 4th of April when the good stuff happens.

PS any news on the New GSFL president and any changes

I was reading on a site that Damien Cupido was offered $1800 a game.
Surely there are no clubs outside AFL and SANFL with that amount of money around.

Outrageous, how would such organisations fund such an offer?? Any links to coin out there?
I heard the Creeks offered Cupido an unknown sum for his services? Can anyone confirm, and if so, how much? How much would he be on at the bloods?

Looks a rather laconic, lazy player who would probably not be suited to country footy? But has the talent to turn the game on its head in the SANFL, imagine how damaging he would be in a country league. Would be a large coup for the league, as big as when Mods returned to the Bays.

Plenty of clubs outside AFL and SANFL willing to pay a 4 figure sum to players. I would think Cupido, being an ex AFL and SANFL footballer, who probably didn't make as much money as he would have liked in his professional career, wouldn't play for under a grand. I personnally don't think he is worth a grand to any country club. A couple of players i know are receiving over $2000 per game, are not required to train and accommodation is supplied on the friday and saturday nights as the league is along way from the Adelaide CBD. Interesting to know how much Mods was on at the bay? Cuzzy, any idea?

Interested to know names of the guys who are on $2K a game + 2 nights accom? Can you divulge such info Damian?
I agree Cupido isn't worth much more than a grand, if that?
Would Mods have been on much? Considering he lived round the corner at Waitpinga, i doubt there would have even been ink to paper given Mods' nature?
Where is Mods now? i remember driving out in the middle of nowhere somewhere and my mate mentioned that was where he was having a kick, not Kimba is it??

No one, and i mean No one, Lance Franklin included, is worth 5 $400 a game worth players, Or 10 $200 a game players. I think when you look at it that way it shows how ridiculous it is. Having said that, cannot blame a guy for taking that money, you would be stupid not to.

Forgive me if it's already been discussed, but Barnaby French? Has connections at Goolwa doesn't he? Did he play there as junior or does he holiday down there?
When are the Saints going to hook into his services, would be handy pick-up to guide the promising crop of youngsters they have coming through.

Cuzzy any chance that Mods will play for bays in 09? I hear he has not been seen around Victor since Melbourne Cup Day due to a self inflicted ban. Any truth Cuzzy?
I believe French has a holiday shack in Goolwa Beach and has spoken to people involved with the club, LF will know more about this.

Modra was playing for Keith in the Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League this year. Rumour is: $20,000 pa for his services but the clubs recoup a lot of that from the publicity and extra attendances

Barnaby French is always linked to Ironbank although he played a couple of games for Pembroke this year - he is mates with one of their players

Yeah Banaraby's parents have a place in Goolwa and he spends a lot of time down here. We have spoken to him in the past but without success, maybe Simon can lure him to g-town through is Sturt connection but probably not likely.

Did hear that a few more of Jons mates were moving to Strath in 09 from Happy Valley to have a kick so i think he'll stay.

Myponga apparently have signed 2 -3 already, not sure of names.
Ben Thorn to play for Yank in 09.
Is Matt Thomas staying at willunga??
