Understand BJ, especially with the respect Willunga have in the wider football community, but as soon as clubs get a good footballer there is the perception that he is being paid quite a bit.
It is just what happens and all the denials in the world does not change that thought process.
And to be honest you don't need anymore.

I totally agree, any decent player that goes somewhere peoples first thought is 'what are they paying him'. To be honest it shouldnt matter, if he plays well and improves the team then hes worth the money. However i find it funny that some clubs pay big money for players who are overrated and dont give good service at all! It happens all too often!!

Pollard is heading with Hill to McLaren.

Agree with most of your points there Toughcall, however I don't think that Willunga are even trying to recruit these guys, more so the case of players wanting to go to a club to chase the elusive premiereship, eg, Ryan, Howes etc.. What is amazing though is the fact that half of their Reserves team could play A Grade at most other clubs, but are quite happy to play in the ressies. Guess that can be put down to success & premierships!

no chance.... guitink will kick more than hams and be of greater benefit to willunga.

he's younger, quicker and stronger and hams will compliment his style of football. kicks goals from 50 with ease and has a great set of hands. team oriented and was touted as next captain of kangarilla. if anything willunga will learn alot from goo.

not getting paid much. 100 a game to cover petrol and considering he said he didnt want anything they obviously reckon he's got game.

Big, big call Dentist. Id be interested to know what ur basis is for that comment? Ur outlandish comment is obviously going to spark debate and i think by you saying that Guitink is of greater benefit to Willunga will do that.

Im interested to know what guys who have seen BOTH players play as ive never seen Guitink and have heard good things!

Portlock and Baxter wont deliver lace out to Guitink, they will always deliver lace out to Hams and look to him first so Hams will still be the number one target.
BJ maybe give Robert Harvey a call he is looking for a flag and you need some guys under 6ft he fits the jumper perfect.

Haha, Harvs would fit in well as Shagger played 2-3 years of junior footy with Robert Harvey along time ago!!!

TW on a side note, Baxter hasnt delivered lace out since 1989

I dont think if Guitink plays at Willunga players would ignore certain leads for others. Lead to the right spot and you will get the footy!

I agree, Hams is a out and out superstar of the comp and a goal kicking machine!!

I think you are just trying to stir the pot and put pressure on a bloke who hasnt even signed yet!!
I say give the kid a break!!

how old is hams? do your eckon he'll be the main man up forward?

guitink played alongside another 100 goal forward at kangy in 2006 but was a bit difficult. ended up kicking 80 odd with the other guy getting 50ish. the next year when he went solo he bagged 112

reckon willunga will push one of them up the ground?

pretty sure he'll sign there though. knocked back big money from karoonda and tailem to play there.

Some people have no idea. Hams will be full forward in 09 and the other bloke who has kicked 100 in Div 2 hills wont kick half of what Hams kicks next season. However believe it or not Willunga do need to recruit, alot of those boys will be finishing up in the next couple of years and with the way the point system works you need to use all your allocated points each year.
I did hear that he signed. $200 sign on, $100 a game

give the guy a break... he hasnt even signed on yet and people are writing him off. he's not going there for cash or to take hamsy's spot, just wants to improve his footy. the guy knows hams so im sure they'll work well together and people will find him if he makes a lead. all this dirt about only kicking to hams is ridiculous. he's obviously what the devils want and will work his ass off over the summer to prove to people he has what it takes.

hows those mudlarks going? heard princi signed a couple of ex south u/19 boys last week and might be making a move on cain gillard from pt noarlunga. anyone confirm?

He will be good for the deamons, just like Ryan was. Last year Ryan and Hams worked very well together and if Ryan does not kick on in 09 then I am sure Guitink will walk straight in and fit in well, it takes some very good players to sacrifice their own game to try stop a forward line that has the power of two great forwards.

You can never knock a guy that kicks a ton (in any grade, in any comp), but kicking 15 goals + against teams like Callington and Gumeracha certainly does make the stats look a bit healthier. Sure Gutnik can play but to suggest he'll take over the riens as the number 1 man from Hams is a bit silly!

Ryan looked like he was going to upstage Hams, but the big fella just went to another level.
Hams is a star and the number one forward in the comp and it will stay that way until he retires.
With Goo's knees risky paying up front money.

Guys 1250 has a point, to be honest with ya as he said i havent moved there to take ANYONES spot i just want to play at a higher level and be at a very professional club. Its funny how people think they know ya just from reading what you've done in the past, so just to be clear Hammsy is the no.1 forward and yes he proberly always will be. Im just keen to do the hard yards to hopefully be a part of a great year!
I dont think its a bad thing if someone wants to improve where theyre at with thier footy and maybe take that extra step, why not do it at a club so proud like Willunga?

So we know about Guitink are there any others out there?

Bachmann to Mclarens? Loves staying on at E Bay or moving? Compass chasing Chad Dawe?

Goolwa? Not naming names but surely Dennis is recruiting some players. L Creek and Strath very quiet!
