BJ Ernest wrote:Not sure if its been mentioned but Adam Wilson leaving Goolwa to Amateur league Div 1.

How did he go for you this yr LF, Damian, Teamwork?? For Div 1 premiership players (wilson brothers) when i saw them play (albeit only the once) their impact wasnt great on the game. I still think the biggest loss for Goolwa will be Yeomans ball getting ability, he just doesnt have enough support or the tall timber to kick to.

Is Cuthbert going around at Goolwa again, good young player!!!

I think LF may have mentioned Adam was going to leave, both Wilson twins (Hayden & Adam) are very committed players they train hard and have a great level of fitness. I think the on-field performance from them both at times was down on what most expected and even them selves expected but they are a great family to have around the club as they all get involved with everything and help out in any way they possibly can. Hayden will defiantly be looking to have a much better year in 09 and hopefully get the support around him he needs.
Yeoman's is a huge loss for the Saints and it will cost them at least 3 if not 4 points to replace him, Yeoman's FIT and with the support and talls around would be one of the best around.
I would think Cuthy will go around at the Saints again as I have seen him doing a fair amount of training along with a couple others over the past 4 weeks and have never heard of him thinking about leaving.
My info might not be all that up to date though BJ as I have not really spoken to anyone around the Saints about Football for a while, LF will be allot more accurate with what is going on.

I think it is fair to say neither of the Wilson lads had good years, coming from a Div 1 side that had won 3 premierships in a row to a bottom side in the GSFL is a huge change, Haydyn i think will be a better player next season having played a year with all the guys at Goolwa and having adapted his game to that of the Saints. Adam on the other hand never got involved as much as Haydyn around the club and with the boys and therefore i think felt like an outsider, good luck to him back in Div 1, will definately be a big change again for him not playing with either of his 3 brothers or having his old man at the footy as i believe they are all staying put at Goolwa (last i heard anyway).

I assume Cuthbert will play again, good young player and has stepped up for the club, if the young lads can stick together and commit more seriously to their football the Goolwa/Pt Elliot FC has a bright future and a real good foundation for building premierships around as the Juniors down there are among the best in the league (i would say only McLaren, Strath and Willunga have bettered them overall in the last 4 seasons).

Dycer has signed at the Bays, no real loss for the Saints except for the fact he was a local player, i would think he'd be easily covered as he hardly played in 2008 and when he did play didn't do a great deal. Will be interesting to hear if Fergusson returns to the Bay, plenty of mates at Goolwa but money talks.

The Love boys are talking about moving and are sounding out a couple of clubs in the league, so will need Fergusson and Dycer to cover their loss. As Damien said "money talks" and the Love boys know they are worth more than what Bays are paying.

When will these guys grow up? Don't they have anything better to do than fight, wouldn't be suprised if someone is killed in Victor this summer from a fight around the Crown/Victor Hotels. I'm guessing you all heard what happened in the city yesterday, a normal fight happened and was broken up, then one retaliated with a knife and killed a kid and then he too was stabbed and nearly died. Crazy stuff and the fights in Victor are getting pretty serious.

Good call Damian, the old Victor street fights are ridiculous now days. I thought if you wanted to puff your chest out you could at least do it sober or in a proper way not play the 16 year old games at 25. I for one hope it doesn't result in someone getting seriously injured, but that's just me....think i'm getting old.

Mr fox, you may well be old :D but i definately am not and think exactly the same. It's these group fights that are the most dangerous, 20 against 1 just doesn't roll in my book.

Very interesting quote.......... because I know they were not linked to GSFL clubs anyway and they definaltly were not signed, sealed and delivered at the Blood and Tars either......
