He played in the Zone Carnival for Northern Cities and did very well about 2 years ago
He is not themost reliable of players though
Got on very well with John Fidge at Lions and had a great year in 2003 I think
Excellent cricketer
One of the best in Port Pirie when he was here
Quite a quick bowler and god middle order batsman
A lot of talent that has probably never been properly applied

Rob Banks has moved to WA I think ... working on the mines.... got a Mrs from here he took with him. Both left at end of 2004 season. Banksy is here at the moment saw him at the races on the piss.
Craig Hoare departed as well... not sure where he went...
Hoarey probably had the better reputation when he came here.... but Banksy played ended up consistant footy and holding down a key position for LS. Hoary went average... had a run thru the midfield now and then but didnt really have to much of an inpact.
WCE or bg.... LS definatly rebuilding... need a couple of years... but the youngsters will get a go.... good top 5 senior players but they can only take u so far.
Tips .... heard Tips2 has signed with a club in the PLFL can u confirm? They reckon where he plays U will play??? True or false??

Evening gents,

I have to head down your way early in the new year to research your fair home town for work.

Basically, it's to get a first hand, in-depth account of Port Lincoln.

So if you've got any local stories, anecdotes, myths, legends, etc...

Please, feel free to drop me a line.

Cheers,

MP.

Here's a couple of myths for you MagpiesPower.

1. Marble Range Don't Pay Players
2. The Regional Salary Cap is working in Port Lincoln

Just for starters

Yes cant wait for wcps post at 8.36 am tomorow Happy Demon..... are you a relation of Happy Saint?
Should be a predictable season WCE no big name recruits being banded around, should be fairly similar to last year, Mallees are always an unknown tho.
What about Tumby WCE?? Whats the goss on their recruiting for their big year??? Is it true they have signed Ben Gunning from Norwood/Yorke Pen?

wcp - may still be on holidays.... he would normaly have posted by now..... probably still recovering... everytime I saw him he was sh##faced!!!
Got a good thing for you punters (wtips get on) in the Magic Millions 2yo on Jan 14, U can bet on it now .... Pulsator trained by G Waterhouse has blistering speed, first start broke the track record at Gosford winning by 4 lengths then came out at Randwick and got beat coz the saddle slipped finishing third beaten a length, the jockey was riding on its neck , it still kicked a couple of lengths clear on straightening but Zac Purton still couldnt ride it out. He has stated this horse "will still win the millions". I have been watching the races over the weekend for the dangers to race and.... there arent any!!!!
If you go to sportsbet.... horseracing...MM 2yo... You can get $5.50 the win for what I see as being a monty!!!!! The equal fav didnt impress me that much yesterday and the other fav Assertive only beat him home due to the saddle slipping....
He goes like the wind... with blistering early speed around the Gold Coast they wont get near him. After his Gosford win he was $2.90 for the millions before easing to $6....after running third... great price which i snapped up... now into $5.50 still great shopping.... if he draws a barrier could start $3 on the day!!!! SO get on NOW!!!!

West Torrens seem to be getting there name out there abit eags.... have they always tried to look after the country boys?? Did you know this George lad from West Torrens they are saying will be the next big thing for SA... apparently he goes OK.

We're a pretty proactive club grub. Always trying new things, and country recruiting is something the club's been targeting for the past few seasons. Our 3 members of the SA U19 side are all from the country. From over this way Luke Harrowfield and even Whitetips played a few games for us, and Boyd McCurry played a couple games in the U14's a couple years back and is over in our U17 Bank SA Shield squad at the moment.

Believe it or not Georgie got a SACA rookie contract even though he was only playing C grade last season and had never played an A grade game. He couldn't even get a game in our D grade the year before! He's 6'7" and has come a long way. Still struggling to hold a spot in the A grade at West Torrens, but there's some quality quicks (Kelly, Harrity and Bourne) ahead of him, so that makes it a little tougher. He started the season well and impressed up in Darwin at the SACA pre-season comp, but hasn't really done a lot since. Apart from a 4fer at the U19's last month, he had a pretty ordinary tour, and I think will be back in the B grade for West Torrens this week. He's young, tall and has a bit of pace about him, so I guess SACA think they have something there to work with. He's still learning the game, so if it doesn't go to his head too much I think he'll be alright. One major problem is that he can't bat and is a terrible fielder, so he has to excel with his bowling if he's going to make it.

WCP = still on holidays

I'll be back on Monday, just checking my e-mails etc this morning!! Races Friday, twilight meet and a band afterwards, promises to be a big day. Last real outing before back to work so should be in fine form, no doubt see you out there Grub.

MR have signed Matt Parker, great get for the club and still can't believe we beat Piesy for his signature. Helps to have good work contacts I guess, which is what he wanted!! No doubt everyone would believe we're paying him....
