now wcp.... this is my mail on the events involving captains Lock and Smith....
The ball went into a drain and was hard to retrieve.... after several attemps the ball was finally retrieved in an unplayable state. Tony Lock advised the SES umpire at the time of the conditon of the ball and asked to change it.... reply was "Your the captain , do what ya like".... so ball was then swapped over. Lock was quizzed by Smith at the boundry and advised what was happening.
Under the law if a ball has been changed the umpire has to notify the fielding captain and the batsmen in the middle.... the batting captain is notified at an appropriate time (eg drinks break, break in play etc.).
So there we have the associations version and all over. Skin Myers is the only one that wanted to take it further, the SES B boys didnt give a rats. If you get bowled by Tony Lock I dont think you should be playing the game anyway......... End of subject wcp.
Talked the GM round into giving u the award this week middy... might be worth a schooey to me??? (starting to sound like the GM)
Welcome Mick ....look forward to your input....

one thing can be attained there another grub, the ball was definately playable, in no way was the ball absorbed with moisture and the seam retained in perfect condition.
all that was required was the ball to be wiped with a rag and the job was done, but to take the law into your own hands dont go down well in this ere town.
Another aspect of the game was on souths part the blatant inability to umpire, and anyone forced to play on the primary school oval the game should be abandoned and directions pointed to the closest watering hole.

i think the leauge need to seriously take a good hard look at what the standard of B grade is like and have a serious think about where cricket is heading, no B grade due to players dropping out through lack of interest and commintment means no back up support for A grade, hence no Port Lincoln cricket.

alright linc magpie... tips - not having a go at the standard!!! Bgrade cricket these days is for Old fellas or those who missed out on As (not good enogh), if any good juniors finish colts and have the slightest ability they will play As straight away. These guys have got to realize the limted ovals that are available and their ability. I Loved playing B grade cricket, good laugh. Just said the qaulity doesnt seem to be there to be complaining about the ovals... Rav will be up and running nexy season hopefully... think the assocuiation do a great job with the grounds.....

if sudsy sellen comes out of retirement, will have to counter that and bring out the big guns in Johnny Beezel Ross.
