A pretty disappointing result for United yesterday. Conceding early wins in a short season are very crucial for a coincidence boost and now sitting 0-2 and the next 4 games before their bye are Two Wells, Virginia, Angie Vale and Hamley could possibly be 2-4 and finals pretty close to being done and dusted.

Does anyone know how many players Bute have picked up as 0 pointers from the YPFL?
Was it United not playing well or did Bute have a very solid outfit?

Mallala vs Two Wells B Grade match looked to be a bizarre one.

Mal 3.0 3.2 3.5 3.6(24)
TW 0.2 1.6 1.6 6.8(44)
HOGG SHIELD DIVISION V WINNER 2018.

I wouldn't be putting the Hamley and Angle vale down as wins just yet either.

Bute got on a roll half way through the second quarter and kicked 6 goals quickly. Other than that it was a good contest with United slightly winning 3 quarters but that doesn't win matches.
Bute will push the top sides in the junior grades ( they may even be the top side) their kids (the ones playing for them anyway) are massive.
Based on my experience of going there once, let's bring them in permanantly.
Also how good is it that they sell beers in stubbies, very trusting of them!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

They always seem to have bigger kids there for some reason.

A few interesting games this week
Two wells Vs united with an ex gun player from TW now playing at United should add some spice
Virginia vs Bute--- great test of where Bute are at
Mallala vs Angle Vale--- Mallala would be disappointed in the result last week and would expect a big win.

I bet the Long plains coach would be feeling pretty flat this week. Could only manage 2 wins in 2 years coaching Bute a few years back then gets beaten by them.

A rough weekend for him. Although I don't beleive he is the cream of the coaching crop.

Country footy often your only as good as the players the clubs money can buy
As far as coaches go as a non playing coach he will be a dying breed anyway with all “playing coaches” making their mark on country footy
Non playing coaches will never have the opportunity to build a club over a period of time

Totally disagree with your statement. Good coaching is far more than attracting good players to your club. The majority of coaches only think about the now. When in reality the coach (A Grade) needs to offer a lot more, more so at country level -

[*] Lead the Club in the direction that fosters development from Senior colts to A grade -
[*] Re-invent players to roles that are needed - B Grade Players making a commitment to play a part in the A's - Every club has these players, most coaches place them in the to hard box.
[*] Coach the Coaches - Support and mentor the senior colts & B Grade coach. Sacrifice your time and invest in these people. Players will see this and become more engaged.

As only one club can win a premiership, success can be measured in other ways.

And when you’ve done all that
Sometimes the cattle ain’t good enough
Until
You spend the $
Players get inspired by winning
And winning in country footy equals $
