I agree, its so hard to know when to pay a free and when not to pay a free. Until yuou have been put in that position you cant comment. It doesnt help with totally biased people on the sidelines giving abuse either.
Keep up the good work TRR/Cove

TRR what if you are required to umpire..... and its a close game in the dying minutes this saturday at wangary and a WFC 50/50 possible free kick needs to be paid in front of the beer van with the dees a couple of points down. Will be a nervous moment for you.

p.s well done for having a crack. credit where credit is due

He would fit in well this season in a Tiger guernsey then

Dont get me wrong hes still the best player the PLFL has seen in recent years! Just saying he recives alot of handballs. but really who wouldnt handball to him!

Didnt someone say he would win the mail medal

Umps must like this sort of stuff

Give him some support and a few weeks and he'll be impressing, could be in the top 3 ruckman in the PLFl.

therealROSSCO wrote:BP - I cant really talk for any of the umpires (Ive only been there 2 minutes and some have been doing it a long time). I suppose the main difference would centre around the 25mtr rulings - wasting time, not giving the ball back "like it's your teammate", going over the mark before the ump has called "play on"..... in my opinion - I wont guess and will only pay frees if I see them and only if they impact the guy going for the ball.... and I wont tolerate abuse from players or team officials...hopefully that works. And honestly it's not as easy as everyone standing on the sidelines thinks....

Thanks, well said :D

if from where i'm standing - i determine its a free kick i'll pay it - regardless of the score, where it is on the oval, and who it's to or against.....btw - i'll cop it from the supporters depending on who isnt in favour of the free - people will always see it the way they want - and they'll take it that I'm too hard on Waybacks or not hard enough...

Funnily enough you dont really keep track of the score - you just dont have the time - especially if i'm busting a nut and lugging my frame to get sideon to the contest...

Just on the umpiring - I can't believe how hot the GF umps are on holding the ball this year. I know we all play the same game, but it's country footy, not AFL. Anyone who picks up the footy while on the ground and gets tackled is in serious strife ... first game in the wet was a joke!

DJD - how have the Cougars games been? Are the umpires just as hot on this in Lincoln this year?

Must have prior opportunity in EEFL and then making a genuine attempt to dispose of it.

All EP umpires should be umpiring under instruction from the new umpires director at Lincoln (his name escapes me for the moment). His philosophy is to cut out the rough stuff, leave the head alone and basically "let them play football".

Ok, I'm not going to be near a computer for the rest of the day, and am missing FEV, MP, and GRUB's tips.

Will accept posted tips/pm's until 5:30 (lucky these new fangled computers tell you that much), after that, it'll be a big goose egg for you.

Cheers.

BP, I'm pretty sure I saw Austy Monfries name in the country footy lift out from the sunday mail(we all know the one) It said Austin Monfries B&F 2009 for Andamooka.... That was only last year champ, or is it a mistake of the sunday mails? No excuses now. Semmler is no way a bludger, probably just a hell of a lot smarter on the field than the rest of us

The Demons won @ Wangary by 20 odd points - the game was a real arm wrestle for the first half and opened up a bit in the last half.... goals were hard to come by.

Wat was the South / Bostons result?
