I'm not sitting on the fence, I just don't know.

The story goes, each week, the League side has a certain allocation of points with which they must select their side.
"Home grown" players are apparently considered "zero" point players, while players who have come into town are ranked, i.e State Country, Amatuers, SANFL, AFL all have different points...

That doesn't seem really helpful...

That's pretty much it, Marble Park ie if it's the same as the Hills league over here. In fact, that's spot on as far as I understand it. One slight amendment here (after one year of the points) is a consideration of having 'minus one' for playing a senior colt in your league side. It could possibly be abused if a team full of imports needs to sneak under the cap, playing a senior colt that otherwise isn't worthy/ready. It can also equate to some crazy-good magoos being rolled out by imports being dropped due to points, again with some players ending up in A grade not based on merit. Mind you, we have a lot more imports over here and some straight from SANFL so it's probably more relevant over here in some leagues.

so the question is who is worth what points and what is the total allowed per week? So premiers Mallee Park are to have less points than spooners Tasmans?

That's a very pointed question.
What's your point
Can you point it out to me
"We don't want points - we want goals"
MP already have lots of points. They must cos they are always pointing
A lady just walked past who was really well pointed
Which way does Kirton point

Sorry about that fellas but i'm just about to point my mouse pointer at the shut down button and point myself in the direction of the Northern (a very good drinking point) and have a point without an o

I don't think that there's a scaling system, spooners and premiers have the same points system, it's to curb the influx of imports which in turn means more locals play. It's then up to teams to do as they wish with the points, not all the 'evening up' can be left to a league body, surely...

If I understand it right, Stoll (playing at Tasmans) would be a "zero" pointer, since Tasmans is his "home" club.

the easy example would have been Marty Leslie, as an ex-AFL player, would have accrued max points playing A Grade at Bostons.

I don't know enough about the history of the other players to guess points...

So Leslie gets 5 and Semmler gets 0. That makes sense

My understanding is that the points system is actually quite complex with points allocated to certain players depending on the level they have previously played at - eg someone playing the majority of the year in an AFL league side the previous year would attract the maximum amount of points which would then reduce year by year. So take a Martin Leslie for example - If he chose to play for Bostons the year after he quit playing for Brisbane he would attract the maximum amount of points (5 I believe), the second year he played for Bostons he would only attract 4 points and so-on.

Each team is allocated a certain amounts of points at the beginning of each year depending on various factors but mainly on their finishing position the previous year (15 is the maximum I reckon) and on any given game day that team must not exceed the allocated points with the players in the team. There are also heaps of other variations - I just had a quick read about it on the SANFL website - Community Football section - Rules and Regulations I think - about page 34 or 35 onwards with the points etc listed at the end of the document.

Have a read and see if you can make sense of it - I reckon it could be a bit of an administrative nightmare to monitor but I believe it has been used in other leagues already and it would be interesting to see what those other leagues think of it.

I'm not sure how the PLFL points system will operate, but in leagues over closer to Adelaide, ex AFL players are not automatically maximum points, it generally depends how recently they played AFL footy. So given Leslie wouldn't have played for Brisbane since the mid 90's i would imagine his points would be minimal. Infact if he played any A grade footy in the league where he previously coached at (Adelaide Plains?), this is where points may come into question, however that was i think 3 or 4 years ago so again i would guess his points would be minimal (if the PLFL operate their points system as most other League in SA do).

Like I said - IF Martin Leslie played for Bostons straight after he finished with Brisbane then he would attract maximum points. In his instance he has had quite a long association with not only Bostons but other country clubs as well and because it is quite a few years since he has played at the AFL level I doubt he would attract any points at the moment. I was trying to point out that an ex AFL footballer straight into a local league would attract maximum points. Sorry for any confusion caused.

It should also be noted that the points only relate to the A Grade team. It does not affect the B grade teams.

Heard from a reliable source that souths have refused to release Jesse Kemp and allow him to move to cougars. He signed during the week and souhts refused to let him go. Pretty rough to force a loung lad to play for a club he doesnt want to be at when a number of his mates have already left. obviously they would be desperate to keep him at souths, but any player should be free to choose where they want to play..

Have heard their president said he is contracted and has to play at souths or sit out the season, bit hard on a young bloke especially when contracts mean f##k all these
days, just look at the afl coach loses a few games and can be sacked whilst still under contract, anyway i guess he won't be going back to souths in future years when playing back in the PLFL maybe they let him go and he might just come back to play for you.

This guy is over-rated from what I saw when we played them. They rucked Hancock before him most of the time. Is he meant to be good?

Current Mortlock Champio....hold on, know they're not. Just got used to hearing it.

Habner played okay in today's city v country match.

Former EP boy Reece Francis went alright. Took a HUGE hit in the second term. Got back up and kicked on.

City won by a few kicks in the end.
