Away team usually wears a clash jumper?

Not if you are Mt. Lofty.......just ask Birdwood

I saw Lofty play Birdwood in the Hills guernsey verus Birdwood.

Apparently for the first 2 years when Birdwood were in central they had to wear the HFL jumper when they played Lofty even when it was Birdwoods home game.

That's what the junior rep from Birdwood told me. Did it happen at least once or did it never happen at all.

The country div on a whole is pathetic, major gap between the top few and the bottom few, juniors a shambles, I would be doing what ever I could to avoid going down as well. I'm sure every other club would be exactly the same. Didn't Birdwood kick up a fuss before they were forced to go down?

I don't blame Mt Lofty for wanting to stay up - but that doesn't mean they should.
And yes, Birdwood also tried to stay up and create an 11 team comp and surprise surprise who was one of the first clubs standing up to tell us to suck it up and go back to Country...........Mt Lofty.
Bit of Karma for the arogant pr1cks if you ask me.
Good luck to Echunga, i think they will find it tougher than what they think but all credit to them for giving it a go!

I'm looking forward to Mt Lofty having to wear their away strip/HFL jumper against us at both Mt Lofty and Birdwood like they made us do in our first season up!

Finding it a bit rich from one Andrew Jarman talking about how player payments in country football are getting out of control on radio recently. You can't tell me that both Marlon and Daniel mot lop would be travelling up to the sandpit for peanuts. Also David Krause is a darwin boy who played with them at Wanderers, that would not have come cheap either. Let's see how far it gets them.

Great to see Echunga Oval being utilised for Central Division.

I reckon it will be a pleasure for other teams to play on the fantastic surface and experience the great hospitality and facilities.

Just can't believe there are no night games scheduled with the brilliant lighting now in place.

It would be an amazing spectacle and an event in itself - Friday or Saturday night under lights at Echunga.

While i am talking club facilities - I reckon there should also be a minimum requirement to play in Central Division.

Changerooms, Oval size and condition, bar facilities etc.

Some of the clubs are operating out of tin sheds and have appalling changerooms which should be addressed.

It seems money has been spent on players rather than getting their fracilities up to standard.

With Echunga Oval now available to host Central Division finals the league should be ecstatic.

It allows the league to showcase Hills Football as it should be.

Enjoy that, Gimp. It'll be the only thing you'll smile about on the day.
Legs Man: your point's been brought up MANY a time on this forum. It's valid but I'm thinking asking Bridgey & Ironbank to move their home ground is a bit rich (I don't think they have the room to make their ovals bigger). A basic standard of away rooms is fair enough. But there are loads of factors involved & I think that clubs paying players to get results is still up there as one of the factors that won't change, perhaps with the hope that the results bring in more $ & then they can upgrade the facilities. Maybe.

Yes it is a bit of a moot point re oval size - but facilities are something you must be held accountable for.

Changerooms with no hot water after reserves is unacceptable - as is changerooms not big enough to swing a cat in (sorry Geelong supporters)

Catering and bar facilities are the clubs responsibility - but player facilities should be monitored by the league.

Drinking next to a tin shed with no cover from the elements is not the way to attract supporters or grow that area of your club.

it will be interesting to gauge each clubs facilities over the course of this year to see who has maintained and invested in infrastructure for their supporters.

i would also like an opinion from Central supporters as to which is the best oval and facilities - or even ranking them.

Yeah good call.. was a great spectacle last yr in the country semi finals...

On another note... I heard Champ will be saving money on his normal weekly manicure as Round 1 approaches.... seems there are some very nervous times ahead. Nothing a good flogging at the hands of Uraidla wont settle.

Yes Uraidla is a big ask first up for Echunga - which I am sure was deliberately programmed that way by the HFL.

i reckon there is a few missing also which will make it even harder.

Clubs travelling to Echunga will really enjoy the facilities presented and the best hospitality in Hills footy. (unbiased opinion of course)

It will be interesting to see how people rate the Central Division ovals and facilities.

To kick it off here's mine:

Echunga
Lobethal
Onkas
Hahndorf
Mt Barker
Blackwood (if windy - below the gap) - actually shouldn't be in HFL
Uraidla

Then a big gap to:

Torrens valley (depending on venue)
Bridgewater (even with Callington as changerooms and bar are 2nd rate)
Ironbank (if they can afford both Motlops & Jarman they can afford to present a good facility)

Sorry Banker - def not trolling - hadn't read back too far.

Just interested to see where the best facilities in HFL Central lie.

Noted you don't have your country club in your avatar - any reason?

Good question Legs. If I nominated who I'm currently registered with, it would give away who I am!

Anyway, do you know if Echunga are wearing the Melbourne Away Guernsey on Saturday?
